Pension Concession Savings

Cross a land you’ll never get over onboard The Ghan, Indian Pacific and The Overland with great Concession Savings.

Under an arrangement with the Federal Government, concession card holders are entitled to significant fare privileges aboard The Ghan, Indian Pacific and The Overland. Concessions* are valid for holders of Australian Pension Concession Cards (PCC) or Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC) issued by Centrelink or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. By combining these Government concessions with Great Southern Rail discounts, Australian pension and concession card holders can save up to 55% off the standard adult fare in Red Service Day/Nighter Seats and up to 32% off the standard adult Gold Service fare.

To receive Concession travel fares, Great Southern Rail is required to confirm your eligibility electronically with Centrelink. If you do not want this to happen you will need to contact Centrelink to obtain a Concession Letter as proof of your eligibility for concession and provide this directly to Great Southern Rail before the concession can be given. Proof of Pension Concession or Commonwealth Seniors Health Card must be presented at time of booking and must be valid at the time of travel.
