Microwave Chocolate Cake

Feel like cake but can’t be bothered baking? Today’s Microwave Chocolate Cake is your answer. Making a cake has never been so easy! Please note that cooking time may vary depending on your microwave. 

 

Serves: Two
Time: Eight minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1/4 cup (65ml) milk
  • 1/2 cup (60g) plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt

 

Method
Grease or spray a microwave-safe bowl and set aside.

Combine the butter, sugar, egg, vanilla essence and milk in a mixing bowl and mix until smooth. In another bowl, mix your dry ingredients: the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Mix the dry ingredients in with the wet.

Pour into the prepared bowl.

Cover and cook in the microwave on high for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes. Keep an eye on it, as cooking times may vary.

Your cake is finished when it springs back to the touch.

Allow cake to cook for five minutes before turning it onto a plate.
