Yes. I tend to agree with your assessment, David!

Thanks, everyone for their replies. I actually do own a cat (the fourth in my lifetime) but have recently made the decision that it will be my last. I also own two dogs. Our cat is a beautiful, loving (and much-loved) member of our family. She is 12. We made the decision to start keeping her exclusively inside a few years ago after her lifetime of being allowed out during the day but always being locked inside at sunset.
Despite our curfew on her, I was still horrified at the killing she did during daylight hours. It was horrible. It is not her fault, just her instinct. But it still doesn’t make me feel positively about it. Now she lives her life inside and seems happy enough but I still consider it a half-life I feel guilty about imposing on her. So…she will be our last cat.
The statistics on how much wildlife cats kill are truly depressing.
Yes, they are cute and cuddly and give important companionship. But other pets also do that and don’t wreak the same havoc on the natural environment.

I buy Lebanese cucumbers at the market – fresh and not a shrink-wrapped plastic sleeve anywhere to be seen. And cheaper, I think too…

So many towns, so little time…

Every school holidays, I used to get roped into my dad’s factory in Adelaide and I had the task of putting all the money in the little envelopes on pay day and then walking out onto the factory floor to hand them out to all the bikie sheet metal workers who worked for him. I am still excellent at quick arithmetic!

Fascinating…and scary. I do wonder what the world will look like for my kids…

Yes, as a mum of four young people (and a former smoker back in the day), it has seemed strange to watch vapes take over after such a prolonged anti-campaign smoking that really did seem to have an impact on the numbers of people smoking. Will be interesting to see how this new war on vaping approach works.

That’s scary! It seems amazing that the Robodebt initiative was very quick to chase people who allegedly owed money, while some scammers seem to deliberately rort the system and not get identified for ages, if ever…

Have you got a personal (negative) experience with someone you know who vapes, or do you get annoyed by vaping in public places?

Well…I am a fan of lots of music post-1973. David Bowie…Paul Kelly…Bruce Springsteen…Billy Bragg…Paul McCartney and Wings…Fleetwood Mac. Just to name some other artists that have been around for lots of years.
I do have a soft spot for the 1960s, though.
Do you have a favourite radio station that plays your favourite music? Or do you just give your vinyl collection a spin?
