So they are banning a “Parenting Book”, IE: a book targeted at those who are contemplating becoming a Parent, and therefore would not be available for children to book out.
Gordon NusseyParticipantWhat does going Cashless Mean ???
Will it mean the end of the Chook/Meat Raffle in the Local Bowls, Crochet, Tennis, Soccer, Rugby Club, also what about those Lucky Number Squares where the Prize is (say) $10, how is that going to be paid ???
Also what will happen to the Local School Tuck-Shop, will the Students then have to carry some form or pre-paid debit card ???
It will inconvenience a large number of Senior Citizens who only use Cash, like a friend of mine who still uses her Bank Book (School Bank Book opened 60+ years ago). Her Pension is deposited evert fortnight and then she makes a withdrawal from the Bank of the Cash she needs, she Pays all her Major Bills using Phone Banking on her Dumb Phone. She does not have the Internet, an email address and is not Technology Savvy, and doesn’t want to be.Gordon NusseyParticipantIt is absolutely amazing just how much personal data that TikTok gathers. Profile information, sex, age, interests, email address, etc. This is all stored on their servers in China. The Chinese Communist Party, AKA the Chinese Government can “request” information and/or data from ByteDance (TikTok’s owners) at any time and for any reason, and they have to comply. It is exactly the same with any Chinese Company no matter what they supply.
That is why Huawei has been banned from any/all Government Contracts to supply Network Equipment etc.22 February 2024 at 1:00 pm in reply to: Residents of this state leaving money on the table #1827959Gordon NusseyParticipantWhy don’t you put the affected state in the title, then only NSW readers would read the article. It does not apply to me in South Australia, and therefore have no need to read it.
As a matter of fact I only read the first line.Gordon NusseyParticipantIt should have been done decades ago, when the rest of the world started doing it.
Gordon NusseyParticipantIf the Government changes their mind and allows Nuclear Power Plants, it will be at least 2030 or later when the first units could be brought online.
It will take upwards of a decade to built and test and commission a full size Nuclear Power Station.
As for SMR’s, they, at the moment, do not exist, they are in the design and development stage with the first units scheduled for testing sometime between 2025 & 2030 depending which source you read, and then at least another 5 years before they will be commercially available.
In the meantime, what is the solution to our Power Supply & Distribution problems ??Gordon NusseyParticipantWhich Nordic Countries are you referring to, could you give a reference soo that the information can be varified.
Norway only has 2 experimental reactors, Finland & Sweden have large reactors, there are non listed being the size that you have specified.15 July 2023 at 12:56 pm in reply to: You’d be amazed at what our waste water reveals about our cities #1806304Gordon NusseyParticipantWhy would anyone be amazed at what our waste water reveals ??
Just think back to the not too distant past, when the various State Governments were giving COVID-19 readings by the Suburb, not just the City.
Therefore if they can do that, by variation, it is not surprising that they can also detect various other chemicals and drugs.Gordon NusseyParticipantThe vehicles that I have had since 2007 have all had Daytime Running Lights, as do just about ALL new cars. It may be the fact that ALL cars have the capability, but it’s whether or not the Driver enables them.
Gordon NusseyParticipantWhether you think this rule is reasonable or not, it’s not a new or obscure rule.
It’s been in effect in South Australia since the mid 60’s.11 May 2023 at 12:28 pm in reply to: Should airlines be fined for delays and cancellations? #1800369Gordon NusseyParticipantWe had a Silk Air flight from Chang Mai to Singapore for a connecting flight home to Australia, the aircraft was one and a half hours late into Chang Mai, which meant that we would not make the connecting flight in Singapore. We were put up in the Crowne Plaza Changi for 24 hours,, until our flight home the next night, with Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included.
I am sure that that would not happen here !!Gordon NusseyParticipantHow do you delete a duplicate post, due to a double click ?????
Gordon NusseyParticipantFranC, what is the difference between what British Imperialism did and what the Portuguese, Spanish, French, Dutch, and Germans did during that period in history.
Gordon NusseyParticipantTotally agree. Putting up interest rates, especially Mortgage Rates, only affect a small portion of the population IE:- the less than 25% of home owners who still have a Mortgage. These are the people who are struggling and an increasing number are going into Mortgage Stress.
The 75% of home owners who are Mortgage free are only affected by increases in consumer prices.
I am in that 25%, being a part pensioner with a mortgage (forced into retirement on health grounds), and boy is it hurting. I just wish that my income was going up as quickly as my mortgage repayments, 3% verses 12% over the past 12 months !!!!!
Then there is excessive profits being taken by some companies / corporations is absolutely criminal, where they put Profits above People. -
