November 2018 Technology Update

As we get to the end of 2018, there are some significant changes going on in the technology world, from updates, to new product releases to incredible new features on social media platforms. Today, I’ll take you through some of those changes and share with you what to expect in the coming months.

The most searched tech products of 2018
Popular technology website CNET shares the top five most viewed products of October 2018 on its website. The list certainly nails the most popular items released recently in the tech world.

Facebook’s cool new feature

Facebook recently launched its Watch Party feature that allows you to group watch videos in sync with friends and family members, commenting and reacting at the same time as what is happening on screen.

It has been revealed this week that Facebook is currently testing this feature for Messenger, allowing the sharing of a video to any messenger group to watch and comment at the same time.

Instagram passwords exposed
A bug, which has since been fixed, has exposed some Instagram users’ passwords through its data download tool.

In a statement to The Verge, an Instagram spokesperson says that “if someone submitted their login information to use the Instagram ‘Download Your Data’ tool, they were able to see their password information in the URL of the page. This information was not exposed to anyone else, and we have made changes so this no longer happens.”

Is artificial intelligence taking over?
The BBC has released its 2018 guide on how artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the world. I really like how the BBC has focused on everyday needs rather than getting over the top futuristic with this list. It really shows just how our workforce and everyday lives are being shaped by the eventual integration of artificial intelligence.
