Top three themed cruises

Anyone who’s cruised before can tell you how much there is to do onboard. Free activities such as salsa dancing, yoga, crafting, social sports and games, as well as free events including ice exhibitions, stage shows, cabaret, live music, movies and performances make it easy to fill a day onboard any vessel.

You can also pay for little luxuries such as spa treatments, massages and personal training or try your hand at cooking classes, wine tastings and other educational activities.

Even with all this available, many would-be cruisers think they’ll be bored onboard. Although that is highly unlikely, these themed cruises may be just the ticket to get you sailing the high seas.

We’ve checked out a few itineraries and here are the ones we recommend.

APT Magnificent Europe, Wine Series

Join European wine experts on a 15-day river cruise between Amsterdam and Budapest and participate in onboard tastings, then visit vineyards and cellars along the Danube for a lesson in all things wine. Learn about traditional wine-making with a family who’ve been doing it since the 14th century. Dine in the Hall of Mirrors at Namedy Castle, as Princess Heide von Hohenzollern opens her doors especially for you.

You’ll cruise in luxury on one of APT’s Concerto river ships and be treated like royalty aboard your floating boutique hotel, with onboard chefs cooking the finest food (40 meals included) and complimentary onboard beverages. Onshore, you’ll have the opportunity to personalise your experience with 10 Freedom of Choice inclusions and all-inclusive sightseeing of up to 15 destinations. Once you’re back home, you can show off your new sommelier skills to your friends!

With free return flights from most Australian capital cities, APT’s European Wine Series cruise is the most majestic way to experience Europe.

Departing 15-29 September 2018. Visit www.aptouring.com.au to request a quote.

Cruise N Groove with Elvis Presley

Put on your blue suede shoes and sail the deep blue seas with classic pop-star impersonators on this seven-night Elvis-themed cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Radiance of the Seas.

The Elvis Meets the Legends cruise features some of the world’s best musical impersonators, taking off such legends as Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison who, in turn, take on the top Elvis impersonators from around the globe.

With over 30 live acts, the Elvis Cruise N Groove cruise is one of the biggest music shows on the high seas. Add to that Elvis trivia quizzes, Elvis and Priscilla lookalike contests, dance comps, themed parties, Elvis cooking shows, meet and greets, fun photo ops and the chance to renew your vows at a Las Vegas style ceremony, and you have the makings of a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Departing Sydney 6 November 2018 on a seven-night voyage to the South Pacific, passengers will enjoy all the exceptional service, dining, and activities for which Royal Caribbean is known. The voyage will take passengers to the delightful South Pacific, visiting the ports of the idyllic Mare and Noumea (New Caledonia).

Cunard Transatlantic Fashion Week 2018

It should come as no surprise that one of the world’s most glamourous cruise ships plays host to one of the most glamourous cruises. Fashionistas will love the catwalk shows and fashion exhibitions onboard Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 as she sails on a transatlantic cruise between Southampton and New York, and arrives just in time for New York Fashion Week.

Guests will enjoy dinners with fashion luminaries, renowned photographers and designers, and will see new collections from some of world’s most talented and up-and-coming couturiers and designers.

More than just a cruise ship, Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 is the world’s only ‘ocean liner’, offering a decadent experience for guests that includes pets, if you want to take yours along.

So, strike a pose and start packing! The Cunard Transatlantic cruise sails early September 2018 and is surprisingly affordable. Find out more at  www.cunardline.com.au
