Travel Gadget: GlobeTipping tip adviser and calculator

Anyone can take the ‘guidebook’ tour, but Leon reckons the best guides are the bartenders, the Uber drivers and the person sitting next to you … They’re the ones who'll help you discover the hidden gems and have an authentic travel experience.

How much should you tip your cab driver? Are you supposed to give the porter a dollar or two? And to whom are you supposed to tip? Do you hand your spa therapist a gratuity after a manicure? Is your tip included in your cab fare in Cambodia? Will only $5 offend your concierge after he’s organised concert tickets for you?

With Global Tipping, you don’t have to be a maths wiz to work out how much you should tip and when.

GlobeTipping is a handy app that gives you a guide to tipping etiquette in over 200 countries, including how much to tip and to whom.

Not only is GlobeTipping the ideal tipping app, it’s also great for helping you split bills with your friends. And if you’re impressed with someone’s service, you can use the calculator to work out a better tip, then split the cost of the bill (and tip) with your friends.

It also has a cool function that enables you to send a ‘receipt’ so you and your friends will know exactly how much to pay.

The ‘Advisor’ helps you work out when to tip. Plus it lets you store your most commonly used tipping equations to your favourites.

GlobeTipping is so simple to use it makes tipping child’s play.

Discover how GlobeTipping can help you on your next trip, or download the app from the Apple Store.

    Can't see why I have to tip, they should be paid enough without it.

    Some of the Barmen and barmaids in the USA only get $2 an hour that's why you tip.

    That is the issue in some cases. They are paid low wages.
    Some tourist operators charge a little more for the tour and tell passengers no tipping as it is included in your price.
    Some Cruise Lines actually charge you a tip fee (they have a special name for it) and they allocate it to the staff who have looked after your needs etc.

    If I am expected to tip because the pay rate is to low, can I request (and expect to receive) a discount from the management to cover this? Are they not gouging their staff to up their profit?

    You mostly suggest apple apps, they are only good for a minority of phones; can you mention if an android app is available also, please.
    Quick web check, copy and paste;

    IDC most recent data shows Apple increasing the number of iOS units shipped between 2015 and 2019 from 237 million to 274.5 million , but it's market share will dip 2.2 percent to 14.2 percent. During the same period the number of smartphones using Android will hit 1.53 billion, up from 1.2 billion in 2015, but its marketshare will remain static at about 79 percent.
