What women want in a hotel

What do women want when it comes to hotels? That’s the question boutique hotel MGallery by Sofitel asked of its female guests and it has used the survey results to tailor a product better suited to female travellers.

The survey revealed that 86 per cent of female respondents want hospitality designed specifically for them.

So, MGallery has crafted a special project called Inspired by Her better focusing on the needs of women who travel.

Around 73 per cent of women surveyed said they often forget to pack an essential item and don’t realise they’ve left it behind until they get to the hotel.

From emergency kits that include complimentary beauty items, makeup remover, nail polish remover, hair accessories, moisturiser, sunscreen, stockings and more, to better quality hair dryers, and improved bathroom lighting and makeup mirrors, light and healthy menu items and signature cocktails inspired with ‘her in mind’, the Inspired By Her project aims to please women by doing the one thing they love most – listening.

“Over 80 per cent of guests in our MGallery by Sofitel hotels in Australia are female, so it was important for us to bring in feminine touches to enrich the guest experience, and the Inspired by Her program certainly does that,” said Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Guest Relations for AccorHotels Pacific, Bridie Commerford.

“Having listened to what women want, we are extremely proud to be launching the Inspired By Her program across our network.

“Eight out of 10 men surveyed also told us that they were supportive of a female-orientated hospitality program.

“Through the emergency kits, wellbeing experiences and food and beverage offerings, we hope Inspired By Her will ensure our guests feel welcome”.

And to make them feel even more welcome, upon request, you can have a freshly brewed pot of tea delivered to your room.

The survey also found that the top five feminine touches women like in a hotel are fresh flowers, fragrance, quality bedding and materials, and attention to service detail.

What would you like to see in a hotel? What extra features would make you feel more at home (or on holiday)?
