Best inflight entertainment

I recently boarded a plane for a flight from Fiji to Melbourne only to find, once seated, that there was no inflight entertainment.

Oh sure, you could use your mobile device, but to do so you had to pay the cost of another flight for inflight wifi. Suffice to say, I was not happy.

Let’s face it: decent inflight entertainment can start your holiday off in a positive way or end it on a sour note. Personally, I dislike getting on a plane with crappy inflight entertainment or tiny little screens and, worse still, hate (yes, hate) boarding a plane with no inflight entertainment options at all.

Emirates has long been hailed by Skytrax as the airline with the best inflight entertainment options for long-haul carriers.

However, the Skytrax World Airline Awards are voted for by passengers and so they may not accurately reflect what industry analysis deems as the best offerings.

According to Globehunters’ analysis of inflight entertainment systems on 20 of the world’s largest, long-haul airlines, Turkish Airlines – not Emirates – has the best inflight entertainment options.

Turkish Airlines offers “everything you could possibly wish for, from live TV to in-flight movies and low costing wifi”, says the UK travel site.

Emirates and American Airlines finished in second and third places respectively, with Air New Zealand and Etihad rounding out the top five. Qantas finished in 15th position.
