Yes I think anyone who shops at the big two have suffered these eternal hold ups. The self-service checkouts do serve a good purpose, if you only have a few articles and wish to get on with your day. However, the old way I find is the best way, with the attendant putting your groceries through a lot quicker than you can at the self service checkout. I do find it very annoying standing in queues waiting to be ushered over to the self-service or the maned check out, while two or three attended are standing nearby looking at people, with fear in their eyes, hoping they won’t have to do anything. My suggestion would be that the big wigs in the company are getting kickbacks from the technology companies for the over sales of various security systems. Call me a sceptic but I don’t think I’m far from the mark. Jacka.

If you want the money, especially tax payers money, you work, the same as in any industry, whether it’s hot or cold. You have an obligation. You don’t see Construction Workers, Brickies, Council Workers on the roads directing traffic with their go slow and stop signs, (who I do really feel for at times), downing tools and running off to the nearest hotel for the day, just because it gets a little warm and expecting to be paid. No work, No Pay. Jacka.

I really have no idea in which direction the world is traveling these days. A four-day school week, this is really a priority for the generation that can’t add up, can’t spell, can’t read and can’t write. I’m still trying to work out which is the biggest problem, the Administrators (The various Education Departments around Australia), the semi uneducated teachers, the undisciplined children, or the parents, who can’t wait to dump their children daily into kindergarten, childcare or school. If anything children should be spending more productive time at school. I believe the various Education Departments are pushing this trend as they cannot supply teachers anymore. Who would want to be a teacher these days with the totally undisciplined children and the more undisciplined parents. JACKA.

How do you tell if an egg is fresh, it’s easy just ask it. More than likely the little bugger will sit there and look at you and say nothing, so drop him into a glass of water and see if he floats, that’ll wake him up. Cheers Jacka.

It really is about time the Australian Government stopped throwing away taxpayers money on aiding every Tom Dick and Harry that has a problem being trapped overseas due to some conflict or whatever. That’s what insurance is for. Similar to travel insurance, people should have to take out insurance to cover themselves for such events, if they go to war torn countries, or have the misfortune for unseen events to occur while their holidaying around the world. Multiculturalism, what a wonderful thing, take the best country that every existed in the history of the world, AUSTRALIA, and drag it down to TO A THIRD WORLD COUNTY STATUS. This is yet another of the many reasons why Australians can’t walk into a Hospital and receive care, are becoming homeless and living rough, can’t put the appropriate healthy meals on the table for themselves and their children as has been done since the days of early settlement. It way over time that the Australian Government looked after the Australian Citizens and their problems instead of donating taxpayers money to every conflict throughout the globe while the Australian Standard of Living drops to below zero. This constant destruction of money on Idiotic Referendums, Hotel like Accommodation for Criminals and accommodation and support for so-call refugees which I refer to as Invaders, has to stop. The ANZAC must be rolling in their graves. JACKA.

No, it will make absolutely no difference whatsoever to people’s drinking habits. It’s a disgrace that the Namby Pamby’s of this world can force companies to put these ridiculous, so-called warnings on their products. For Example the Tobacco Industry, I don’t smoke, I don’t agree with smoking but they should not have to put these ridiculous and disgusting warnings and photos of lung cancer etc on their product. You should be allowed to advertise your product or it should be banned, one or the other. The Government wants it both ways, Excise is the name of the game and to hell with the general public. Where does it stop, warnings on dairy products, bacon and other meats, pastries and desserts because they raise your cholesterol and increase the chance of heart attack, if not consumed in moderation. In this day and age the General Public are well informed and aware of what they should eat or drink healthwise, their choice, be it good or bad. JACKA.

Love and used cash regularly, always have always will. For the sake of the general community it should be credit cards that are being phased out, not cash. Nobody ever got scammed out of cash online or by phone have they. You don’t pay massive fees on cash do you. You should spend what’s in your pocket not in the never never. So if the General Australians Public weren’t so lazy, could do their sums and didn’t wanted to get Robbed Blind for Convenience, this subject would not even be up for contention. So when you look at your bank account online and it reads ZERO, remember this. JACKA. PS. Also I have no idea what the comment by ROD63 means, could someone please enlighten me.

No sympathy here. 15% over 3 years not bad if you can get it. People apply for jobs knowing full well what’s expected of them and what their pay scale is. Milk is a necessity similar to other industries such as health. These people are not rocket scientists, if they aren’t earning enough money find another job or get a second job to subsidize their lifestyle. Don’t disrupt people’s lives. JACKA.

I remember a number of years ago, Governments were going to tax these ridiculously sized, petrol guzzling vehicles, being produced by the automotive industry, out of existence. Yet another broken promise by our Politicians. Apart from the massive pollution they produce, excess wear and tear on our roads, the safety factor or lack of safety factor for other drivers on the roads, who’s vision is constantly blocked, now and for some time, their causing parking problems and the possible collapse or parking stations due to their massive weight. Once again, it’s time for the Government of the day to step in and do something about this problem. Their totally unnecessary and should be put into the extinction box along with the dinosaurs of similar proportions. Perhaps we should have a referendum, Mr Albanese seems quite taken with them. The Voice on Vehicle’s, no sillier than the last one we had and this one could save lives and help the environment. JACKA.

In my opinion e-scooters should be banned from footpaths altogether, they are a powered vehicle driven by unlicensed idiots in most cases and should only be driven on the streets by licensed participants. You very rarely see them wearing helmets and they career around the streets and foot paths of Brisbane like its a gocart track. In the City, there should be a constant foot patrol of Police,(as they once did) patrolling the footpaths and streets, fining and arresting these idiots causing havoc, for their own protection if not for the protection of the general public. The Premier and her cohorts should be made to wander around the City (alone) and see what actually goes on instead of hearing its second hand while being chauffeured around in taxpayer funded luxury vehicles, not unlike the TV Show Undercover Boss. Firstly I love dogs cats and most of God’s creatures, not that fussed on humans, for obvious reasons. No Way In The World should animals be allowed on Public Transport anywhere, (A large percentage of society shouldn’t be either) they should not be allowed into Restaurant’s, Cafes, Hotels, etc. Their animals, 1 minute they’re peeing on the foot path, sniffing each other’s asses, licking their genitals and you want to have them sitting on a seat next to you and other patrons on Public Transport, Restaurants, Cafes, Hotels, etc. What’s wrong with you people, you’re Farm Animals, that also shouldn’t be allowed in Public. Get a Reality Check on the way to your GP for whatever disease you’ve picked up from your hair little friend on Public Transport or while you’re engaging in a meal at a Public House. Grubs. JACKA.

The poor old so-called Boomers cop it again, this time in the supermarkets, unbelievable. Where I shop in supermarkets the only problem are parents with their unruly, undisciplined children running around, screaming, touching everything, grabbing things, mummy can I have this, mummy can I have that, That’s The Problem. I’ve been an advocate of children being banned from supermarkets for many years. Parents should leave their children at home or with a friend while they go to supermarket to do their shopping, they get it done a lot quicker and buy what they need, if they have the intelligence to make a list. Then They Wouldn’t Clutter The Supermarkets. They don’t seem to have any problem dumping their children in childcare (at Taxpayers’ Payers Expense) for the greater part of their young lives, why inflict them upon the general public in supermarkets. Perhaps yet another “Reality Check” for the somewhat Rude, Disrespectful Young Of Today’s Society. JACKA.

What a load of cobblers. PRICE GOUGING nothing less. The price of essentials such as Milk,Bread etc.should be capped and no price rise without Government approval. The big supermarkets have no trouble beating their respective chests regarding price drops on products very few people purchase/use. If they spent less money advising, to suck in the gullible shopper, they would have no trouble supporting the general community in these difficult times. JACKA.

I believe there should be amendments to where people can smoke. I don’t believe they should be allowed to smoke at bus stops walking up the street outside shopping centres in shopping centers it’s disgraceful you simply waiting for bus or walking along the foot path, next minute you’re hit with puffs or smoke from people walking past you. It’s both disgusting and disgraceful. Jacka.

Yes Jan, you and those like you are the problem with society today. No discipline, don’t punish the child or anybody else for misconduct. Not only should Corporal Punishment be brought back and use vigorously, but parents should be able to discipline their children as they see fit, without idiots like you looking down on them and demanding that they lives their lives according to the doctorate of Jan Fisher and the like. The Children’s Court should be abolished and all these little toe rags running around breaking it homes, stealing cars, assaulting and murdering people should be given a good flogging and placed in a real jail not a holiday camp or rehabilitation centre. If they persist bring back Capital Punishment and solve the problem permanently. That’s what’s wrong with society today, all the Bleeding Hearts out there, Social Workers, Psychologists, the list goes on, poor little diddims, they had it tough. You, your wife, your son, your daughter, are just as dead if they were stabbed by a 10 year old as opposed to a 40-year-old. Wake up and smell the coffee you more than likely over educated under intelligent being. Jacka.

Yes the good old days, back to the ’50s and ’60s Brisbane. McWhirters and Waltons were the two big department stores in Fortitude Valley, which at the time was a bigger hub than Brisbane City. McDonnell and East was probably the largest department store in the city at the time. Also popular were The Shingle Inn, The York Inn both in Edward Street and Christies Restaurant, on the corner of Edward and Queen Streets, as it was in the day. The Christmas decorations were sensational in those days and people flocked to both the City and Valley to experience them with the kids. I still remember McWhirters had Santa playing a large organ on top of the awning at the front of the store. Happier and simple times, marvellous memories. I could explain what went wrong but I would have to move into political mode and that wouldn’t totally ruin the theme. Jacka.

I read an article on this subject the other day, apparently the cameras are being put in so they’ll know when their stock is low and can replace it more quickly for their customers. If you believe that you believe in Santa Claus. Simply for security, obviously. I don’t have a problem with that myself, as long as they get my good side. And as for them reducing prices to aid the general public if these cameras save them money in anyway, another Santa Claus story. The cost and installation of these cameras would run pretty high I would imagine. Tough times have obviously caused more theft or attempted theft, why doesn’t Woolworths just come out and tell the truth, why the cameras are really there. Most customers would understand. Jacka.
