Council junk pick up in my area next week

I live in a little court which has 8 houses.  We are to the left of the house at the top of the court and have a good view of what is going on.

Today, if there has been one four wheel drive and a trailer come in and slowly cruise around looking to pick up some goodies, we have had about 10 so far and it is only midday.

I find it intriguing that most scavengers drive very late model cars...even seen a BMW on one occasion last time we had a pickup.

Nothing much in our court for them...just a few fridges at one house and some old furniture, not worth having, at the one opposite.  Both as you enter the court.

We have some bits and pieces to go out but will do so at the last minute as we dont want it strewn all over the place.

Radish

Maybe that is why some people drive late model cars .. they recycle

Hello Radish

Don't leave hubby out by mistake.

That lady in the bmw might pick him up and take him home

radish,  if we have any hard rubbish,   we have to ring the council first, and they say which day they will pick up,  if you just dump it,  it doesnt go,    what we do here,  as only 6 units in our small street,  if one has to ring council for a pick up,  we contact one another, then it can all be put together,     in the big street around the corner from me,  its a disgrace,  people put all sorts out,   like you ,we have cars come around and scavenge through the things,  leaving stuff everywhere,   once if you put a t,v, out it was gone in 10 minuets,   but not now,    no one wants the old ones,

Radish :)

Did you SCORE ???

Image result for hard rubbish collection

Seggie.  I was asked to tell exactly how many items I was putting out and what they were, plus I was not to put anything out until the night before as others will dump their unwanted items there. One must obey our council otherwise you are in trouble.

ours do the same SEGGIE,    thats why we always ask neibhours before we ring,   as council will not take it if they are not told,    we have 5 free pick ups a year,  so between us all,  we manage to clear out what we have,

My council had the same requirements, but I put my junk out a week or so before the collection date. A lot of it disappeared before the garbage truck came for it. "One mans trash.........."

thats very true K,G,    the trouble is people going though things and leaving the mess on the street,      it was in the local paper that it was illegal to take rubbish,  but if someone can make use of what you put out,   why not let them have it,    we have lounge suites ,cupboards,  all manner of things,

Seggie, our council has exactly the same rules. After 4 pm the night before collection.

Actually it is illegal here to take anything that is on the footpath for collection unless you have the owner's permission.

Seggie. There are only two collections a year here. I wish they had 5. Sometimes I could just about put myself out but then, a bit of a read plus a cup of tea and all is fine.

Horrible news in Newcastle. So sad..as if there isn't enough to worry about without all that rain they have had. Hope they know we are thinking of them.

Seggie, we can have as many collections as we like but have to ring the depot to arrange collection.  They give you the date when they will pick up.

Please don't put yourself out there, we would miss you terribly in here.

Dungog had 309 mm of rain in 24 hours.  That's where the deaths were.  Apparently elderly people (1 woman, 2 men). They died when their houses were washed away in the flood.

that is awful SANDI,   i havent had any news today,   really dontput tv on until 6 for the news,  but have been on a,b,c, lately at 2,30,   watching THE PARADISE,   i dont usually get into those shows,   but really like this one,    hope no more deaths or mishaps in the area,

Abby, nah, nothing I want and we have enough junk of our own.   The policeman two doors away scored a lovely rectangular pine table and a round outdoor one.  He only had to walk three houses down to the corner and bring it back.

If I had needed it I would have taken it myself but have no need .  A good sanding back some lacquer  and it will be in top condition again.

Don't mind people taking stuff at all but it is the mess most leave behind that irritates me.  On one occasion I saw something on the side of the road and I went and knocked on the door and asked if OK.  The person was quite surprised that I had asked but I just did not feel right just taking it even though on the verge.
