This sounds very much like an advertisement to me - and considering the dramas surrounding cruise ships and swine flu, probably not the smartest time to be doing this?

Come on Pommy!! You are showing the cynical side of your nature. I have taken a number of cruises over the years & agree that they are great value. Although, not as good as they used to be, with the Fairstar & her sister ship the Fairsky. They are certainly a lot better, at the end of the day, than some of the coach & accommodation tours that are advertised in the Senior's newspaper. You can regularly get cruises to a number of Pacific locations, for a little over $100 per day. Don't forget that this includes all travel, accommodation, entertainment & up to 6 meals a day, all inclusive. You only have to buy your grog!!

You do mention the health drama. I did a few ocean crossings, many years ago on a yacht & on my return, friends & relatives said I was mad, then they hopped into their cars & drove down the Sydney Roads!!! They thought I was mad!!!!!!

Yes Innes, I am a cynic. I was in the business of marketing in a previous life, and know the tricks. The poster only joined yesterday, no mention of the trip he/she took, just a website address. I'm not saying it's not a good link, or the company's not legit. It's just that marketers /advertisers are always looking for ways to promote without paying, and I just felt this was one of them.

Bugger Pommy, my bloody can is half empty again.

So I only joined yesterday, big deal...I like to go on vacations and like to share where you can get valuable deals at so that other people can enjoy them as well. Is that a crime??

good on you ajkaiser07. Welcome to the senior, cynical madhouse. You have got to admit, that anybody who has attained the title of Senior, in this Country, has a defence for being cynical. We are actually, a nice mob, except for me & BigVal & Pomme & Dusty & PlanB etc etc etc. We did have a real lady on here once, but Phyl seems to have gone missing in action.

I have never been on a cruise --except for the one to Tassie--that was good and quite long enough for me--as I would hate to be stuck on a ship--with heaps of people for so long and would find it frustrating to only have a short time to explore various places and to have to dress up for dinner. I guess it is good for folks that are very social--but not me, it would be like being stuck in a club--and I hate those.

Hi ajkaiser07. I apologise if I allowed my cynicism to take over. I would have appreciated something about the trip you took. I wasn't accusing you of a crime, just of opportunism maybe. At my age I have been known to make the odd mistake, and I am always willing to be corrected. Please stay with us ajkaiser07, mostly we are a nice mob, well I am anyway ;-)

No offence meant.

hey Im nice toooo lol

I am a newbie tho...

I went on a cruise in March, couldn't fault the service or any part of the organization, The Pacific Dawn was lovely.... Boarding and .disembarkation was so smooth compared to years ago when I last went on a cruise..10 great days holiday and not expensive ..

Vanuatu was wonderful BUT Isle of pines was by far the very best place .. next holiday will be 10 days on Isle of pines at the Hotel Kodjeue, this is not an advertisement just a statement of fact. The cruise stopped only for the day at Isle of Pines but upon discovering the The Hotel Kodjeue...which has wonderful grass huts right on beach and a great restaurant which serves huge lobsters for $48 and local snails cooked every which way... I've decided that's where Id like to spend 10 days next time..

You are so right about cruises being great these days, and if you or anybody you know is wanting to take a cruise anytime soon I know where to find some great deals. Right now www.eseacruising.com.au is giving $300 bonus discounts to seniors 55 and over. I know you probably think that I'm trying to sell you something, but I'm not. I'm just informing you of where you can find some great discounts, as that is what I do with all people I know.
