I think it's coming to that Foxy.  They are now only allowed to draw I think it's 60 Euro's a day from the bank.  That is when the banks open.  I believe they have shut the doors for a period of time.

Radi at least they would have some money coming in but whether they are going to be allowed to draw it out is the question.

Definitely not a place to holiday at the moment.  Travellers being advised here to take cash with them.

Wouldn't like to be in their shoes right now.  But Australia has to wake up China is on a slippery slope too.  So we could be in for a rough trot here too and guess who we owe money to.  That's right China.  So if they call their loans in worldwide we're in the shit.

If one goes there likely there will be lots of crimes with some robberies.

Put your money into property.

Use the value of your owned house to secure a bank loan on a unit or an affordable house.

Put in a tentant who's rent pays your mortage and more.

Take out Elder's land lord insurance.

That might be OK IF the economy is OK but if you have loans and the system falls apart then you loose everything,  when you borrow on low interest --IT WILL NOT STAY LOW

We own four houses now and doing ok compared to most typing here

....wonders - how Davey - do you know what people have or do not have on here?  Just asking ..............   :-)

Would not want to be a pensioner in Greece now;  heard on news there will be none paid in future.

This is a perfect example of why countries cannot live beyond their means;  eventually the piper has to be paid but in this case he is not going to be.  If you borrow you pay back...that was what I was taught.

..wonders why Greece (knowing what was about to happen) did not "print" extra paper money (unbeknown) to the International Monetry Fund -  stick that money into their banks - and played "cool"? lol lol --- just a thought.......     :-)

Radish, Pensioners are already on half pay.  Now as you say there will be none.  That's why there's been big uproars over there.

Will get even worse now.

Anyone over there who gets Australian Pension won't have access to it because it's paid into their bank accounts. Unless they open an account in another country and travel to pick the money up.  Even if it's paid into an account here they still won't have access unless they can go to another country to withdraw funds.

Apparently theres been a run on food shops as well.  People stocking up for what's to come.

.....thought this was applicable to the Topic -  saw it in yesterday's paper .....

DECADES OF DOLE TAKERS

Almost 200,000 Australians currently picking up the dole have been living off welfare payments for more than 5 years, with 100,000 clocking past the decade mark!

New figures from DSS reveal numerous people moving from one payment to another so as to continue collecting Centrelink cheques.

About 560,000 additional people have been on the Disabilty Support for more than 5 years.

I always said that you were a pack of lazy buggers.

I always said that you were a pack of lazy buggers.

..who is "you" ???  Not me I hope? lol

I've been watching life on Benefits UK but overv there there are no jobs.

No excuse here as there is plenty of work.

We should heed the lessons of Greece.  They were being paid very large pensions.  Listened to a chap from Croatia I think it was only this morning and he was giving Greece a "serve" over corruption, huge pensions and living beyond their means.
