Internet Fraud WU YI TEA

Having read a few posts on scams etc. I thought I might share an experience I had recently. First of all I admit to being stupid to be conned into this and I deserved all I got (So I thought)The product I sent for was WU YI TEA it is supposed to be a slimming aid and after recent radiation treatment for skin cancer I was told NOT to exercise for at least 6 months. The reason for this is that the radiation treatment not only destroys the cancerous cells, it destroys the heathy ones as well. You have to rest to allow the healthy cells to regenerate. The consequence being OVERWEIGHT. So I saw this add on the net and the scam works like this.
You are asked to pay only postage and handling for a trial pack, the sum being $4.95 I received the pack approx.1 week later on the understanding I could cancel any time within 60 days and not incur any further payment. Sucked in.I tried the tea and it was (In a nutshell) Bloody horrible. I contacted them the next day and cancelled my order. I was given a cancellation order number and was informed that there would be no further payment.
2 weeks later I checked my bank statement and found a payment for $84.90 to this WU YI Co. I contacted them And was told it was an oversight and would be reimbursed WRONG again. This went on for 6 months adding up to a total of $194;.50 I finished up going to my bank and filed a internet fraud report. They then cancelled my card and issued me with a new one. This means the perpetrators of this scam could not access any more from my account.Remember, they only had my credit card No. not my account number
I was prepared to accept this cost as a reminder of my own stupidity. However, the outcome was a complete shock when a week later I checked my statement and found 14 entries crediting my account to the tune of $192.16.
Now,after bagging banks for their money grabbing fees I was shocked at the prompt response and the outcome.

I am glad that you were able to get the money back James--I hope they catch those mongels.

There is a forum on the net about this scam but can't remember where I saw it.I did however manage to burn a disc of the entire list of people who were caught. I included this in my fraud report. I also added a post to the site to give some reassurance that all was not lost.

So sorry you were burned - the internet is a great place, but you do have to be very careful. If something promises to be true, it usually isn't. There are so many people who wish to gain profit, promise the world, but deliver nothing. I have a very low limit credit card. If I purchase anything over the net, I use it, even on E-Bay. Must admit, I've never been scammed there.

If anyone is "scammed" like this and finds out fairly quickly after being debited, you can contact the VISA or MASTERCARD section of your bank and they should be able to reverse the charge on the grounds "goods not supplied". the time may differ from bank to bank, but 30 days seems the most common time frame to lodge such a complaint........anyway, its always worth a try.
