What happened to the warm winter forcasts.

...what happened to the warm dry winter that the Government Doom forecasters said we would have...Guess it will have to be revised like their global warming excess forcasts ..

Never mind Labor will save us by covering the country with windmills . That should slow the wind ...and create shade for our cows ...

WEATHER forecasters have made conflicting predictions for next week but there is one thing everyone agrees on.

The region is expected to be hit by a cold snap and the point of contention is how much the region will shiver?

Mackay & District Weather Updates predicts temperatures could plummet to as low as four degrees, but Mackay Bureau of Meteorology station manager John McILwham expects the mercury will only drop to a minimum of eight degrees.

Mr McILwham also predicts the cold snap to hit the region from Monday to Wednesday while Mackay & District Weather Updates are predicting it will persist until Friday or Saturday.

Mr McILwham said the development of a low-pressure system in the Tasman Sea between two high-pressure systems would contribute to the cool weather.

"There is a high-pressure system in the Tasman Sea moving away, and another high pressure in the south-west of the continent around Western Australia that is going to be slow moving," he said.

"There is (also) going to be a low-pressure system form in the Tasman Sea between those two highs and that is going to give us dry, cold, continental air over Queensland."

While it may be a good time for residents to prepare themselves with winter clothing and several cups of coffee, not everyone is worried about the prospect of falling temperatures.

Mackay resident Greg Lawrie welcomes the cold weather.

"It has been a very mild winter here so far," he said.

"We have got to have it (the cold snap), it has got to happen."

Today is expected to be 15-23 degrees with a high chance of showers.

interesting copy / paste again pete. ANnything in your own words ?

BTW 27 deg here at the moment and yes I think most of us know that parts of the country get cold every year.

My own words are above . For local weather reports I go to the local paper . I obviously do not have your knowledge of local weather all over the world ..

Your own words eh Pete. Funny how they are exactly word for word the same as the place you copied & paster them from.

Get original mate and try and say your own stuff. Plagiarism is cheating (sorta like Bronwyn)

Must say I agree with the moderating of comments.

Letting a poster know their comment is not according to the guidelines by removing some or more words and letting us know it was edited is a good way to moderate.

I find this better than just deleting posts which does not give any message to the poster.

I would like to know why my comment was removed I simply objected to be called a liar...

that's your problem - not mine.

...and all I did was put up a film review!!!! Ah well...

HMMM!!!

Children playing games again ... thought it was a Senior's Forum

Yes I looked at the long range weather forecast a the beginning of winter and they did forecast a warm winter but usually the coldest months we have are July and August ... so will see what happens after the cold snap ... indications in the garden suggest we will have an early spring.... and the chicken are laying.

The cold snap has struck

Not much of a day for outside today by the looks of it.

Guess our maximum, looks similar to Gerry's minimum North .... What a diverse country we live in ... but should not complain, at least it does not snow here :)

South Australia has  had the coldest July for 20 years.

Must be due to the Global Warming

It was bitterly cold here too as this morning when I went out to tend to the chickens... reminded me of when I used to live in that freezing hole in Orange in my childhood. Brrr!!!

Today at 12.20 p.m here in Noonamah, just south of Darwin, it is 26 degrees and 23% humidity.  Not hard to take at all :)

What about sending some of it down to us Radish :)

Hope you are ewnjoying your hol

Yes Abby, we are certainly enjoying our very short stay.  Sitting under the patio, being landed on by flies constantly (the darn things are addicted to insect spray...so have given up even trying lol).  Looking out over beautiful green manicured lawns with a lovely lake.  Behind me are cages full of beautiful  parrots....4 large macaws take price of place.  Lots of other animals here as well, the usual dogs (3) cats (2) about a dozen goats, two babies.

If the weather was like this all year round it would be like living in paradise here on this property  but the wet season is a real killer for us.  Cannot stand the high humidity.

The paw paw trees have so many on them at the moment they look like ticks hanging there and the taste of them is wonderful.

Lucky Radi

Snowed in Canberra today...
