$267 million in unpaid fines

(This is on page4 todays Advertiser, can't do a link as don't subscribe on line)

Anyway the gist of the story is that in 2002 Kevin Foley said that he would take every possible step to recover the then owed $86 million owed, that amount has jumped 200% in 10years with one defaulter owing $171,000 and yet another owing$131,000

So they're setting up a special taskforce which will have the powers to ..sell a debtors house

               clamp, impoud vehicles

              suspend professional, tradesman's licence

              garnishee incomes and bank accounts

How on earth have they let it get to the stage where a person can lose their house, if they suspend a tradie's license ,how can they earn money to pay it back?

Surely if they know someone's persistant fine dodger they'd take action sooner?

$267 mill.'s a lot of health workers.

Seems if some people have no assets and keep getting fines then what can anyone do to get the money but there has to be a deterant surely.

I get SO annoyed at the waste of money when our Health Servicese specially hospitals are in such dire straights and people dying trying to get in  knock knock - go away and come back another day like years and you may go on the emergency list as waiting has changed the situation. sad hey.
