The state minister of community and consumer affairs, Datuk Jainab Ahmad, said her ministry was "questioning the validity of the marriage", and that she had told Sabah's welfare services department to put the victim under protection.

"As a mother, I am still puzzled: how could the father or the girl allow his daughter to be married to the man who had raped her?" Ahmad asked.

"The girl was only 12 years and six months. I believe the victim is in a trauma. She should be protected instead [of] marrying the man who had raped her."

The Malaysian anti-corruption commission is investigating the claims that Masmud paid the family.

In my humble opinion the rapist and the father should both be hung by the thumbs next to a wasps nest

It is their culture - somewhat different to ours.

You are too kind Tadpole, I could think of a more suitable appendage to hang them by.

Me too Vivity

The whole lot of em should be hung, culture is not an excuse here, looks like the father gave his blessing because he cant marry her off later when she is of age because she's not a virgin, the father should of paid this mongrel a visit with the police, not a bill for damages, unbelieveable.

They should get this rapists and put a rubber band around his gonads like they do with sheep, they are not backward hill billies, they know what technology is,I just have trouble with a man (not a man)really, enticing an innocent child into his car to rape her, poor girl, probably abused by the father after, dont bring them here,no way.

I have just come back from a wonderful weekend in a bush camp with a group of like minded people who love photography.  Some of them are professionals at their hobby, others, like me are not, I'm a novice just starting out with a new camera which I'd been using on 'Auto',

It was astounding how the professionals stopped taking their pics to help out the novices, so unselfish, and so helpful, there was not a complaint from anyone the whole weekend, it was as though we had found a different world. The weekend was organised by the Camera Clulb which I am a member, photography enthusiasts from all over the State had been invited.

Now I come to the point of this post, I decided to come in here to learn about what ever is going on in the Political scene as this is the place to come for that, I'm sure you will all agree.  Did I get a 'thud' back to earth, the  first post I open up is this one, the person has stated that he was unable to copy and paste using Fire Fox, and what happens,  Abby tries to help him out, which is commendable however in my books there is no need for the end of your reply,  "It's not the  Firefox" followed by your little 'duh' icon. I guess I must be an idiot too as I have trouble copying and pasting from FF, I just go into IE to do any work other than typing in here, BTW, I don't consider myself too much of a fool when it comes to technology.

To me there is always anger or arguments of some kind appearing on this site, and it's not just with Abby, that's why I don't normally post in here, but after being with 70 odd people of all ages, kids through to 80yo and not a harsh word said, I wondered what is the matter with so many of you on here that you just can't get along and appreciate each others opinions, why must you call each other names etc, I just don't understand.

Well that's my whinge for the day, I do hope I haven't offended anyone with my opinion.

Cheers.

Deanna dont take it personally = Abby meant the board it is ancient and on this part cant even use Firefox properly most of the time as this other bit clicks in which is annoying.

And the way to put in a link is clunky but doable in Firefox Abby explained how.

Type anything and highlight it with your cursor,  and above the box surrounding the post here is a bit blue A and next to that a light knot thingy and if you highlight a word on here the knot thing will darken and click onto that and another window appears and you can copy a link into it and then click down bottom insert and voila. done.

To copy a link go to address bar in article reading and wanting to quote, then click on it and menu drops down click on copy the link in then held withint your clipboard and will stay there until replaced etc.

Can use it to keep the link in your data files by copying it onto say Wordpad and then saving it and can copy the whole article too to save it as doesnt stay there for ever so if needed months later best save it.

Hope that helps.

And I suspect no one actually discussed politics on your trip either or else some would then disagree always happens which is why religion and politics are forbidden to be discussed in the armed forces.

Thanks Deanna, I too cannot do it with FF either and I do not use IE either so have given up on the insertion bit maybe it is not using IE that is the problem.?

With regard to your remarks on the "ambience" of the site I come on here to relax  but hesitate to take part or make comments at times,as I am sure a lot of people who previously used to post on here do so lightheartedly, as it has become very judgemental. Compassion and laughter are good medicine for the soul, we need more of both.

Hi Big Val,  thanks so much for your reply, I didn't take it personally, just came back to earth with a bit of a thud, I probably did take Abby the wrong way, that's the problem with not being face to face.... LOL, Sorry Abby. I've cooled down a bit now, amazing what a chat with some one and a cuppa can do LOL, I use both FF and IE on my computer, depending what I'm doing, but I use FF mostly. Thanks also for your instructions on how to copy and paste in here........  Funny you should say we didn't talk politics, in fact we did, we actually fixed a lot of Australias problems one evening LOL, I think the difference is we all accepted each others opinions and accepted that some of us would be on one side and others on opposing sides, that's why I say it was like we were in another world.

Vivity, I agree with your statement of 'Compassion and laughter are good medicine' and thinking and caring about others is another one.... I must admit I do get a laugh out of here at times but then on the other hand I can get quite upset with the arguments that come up, maybe a little more moderating of the site would be adventagous.......

Cheers

vivity

What broswer do you use ? I use FF on a Mac and it works ok .
