Vatican prelate suspected in plot to smuggle €20m

Makes you wonder why people do charitable things for others when you get the online news and read headlines like this:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/28/vatican-prelate-plot-smuggle-20m

I am not having a shot at any particular religion, but if the boot fits!

I have always known that the Catholic Church was a business, and I know that it is financed via donations from a fair few criminals and proceeds from crime, surely the church knows where from and whom is giving these big money donations.Should they decline this money knowing it is the proceeds of crime, and,do they give this donated money back to the poor in the community knowing its "dirty"

I always used to laugh watching the yank gangster movies,TheGodfather comes to mind where the gangsters try to buy redemption?

Just wonder how deep the knowledge of the origin of this money goes,do the Vatican money men know its "dirty money" but accept it anyway,it seems to go against the grain really.

The Vatican Bank is now called "The Institute For The Works Of Religion"

All money is dirty especially when it passes through many hands.

Anybody who is genuinely interested in this subject should read David Yallop's book,  "In Gods Name".  Just the chapter on the Cardinal of Chicago, who ran the Vatican Bank, before he disappeared into the Vatican City, would be enough to turn you off organised religion for life.

i agree.  those who claim "god told me to do it" are probably the worst con-men of all.

I have NO tme at all for organised religion and feel you do not need to have all that rubbish to be close to "God" if you so beleive.

Tha vatican is very weathly and is also into politics --WHY would a religious body need to do that??? Follow the money.
