$45 billion over-investment raises our electricity prices

since 2009, the electricity network companies that own and maintain our “poles and wires” have spent an astonishing $45 billion on what will turn out to be the most expensive project australia has ever seen.

allowed to run virtually unchecked (now they have been mostly privatised..), all that money was spent on infrastructure we don’t need, and we’re all paying for it with ‘connection fees’.   the spending was approved by the federal regulator, but the federal government didn’t even realise what was going on until it was well underway and too late to stop it.

the increased cost of electricity has nothing to do with the carbon tax.

Thats right Kika, it is the cost of the Elect --going past your home --same as it costs more for the rental on a land line than it does for the calls, bloody rip off.

Also yet another LIE from Abbott

thanks for your reply planB.  i notice that my post did not raise many comments.  most of the people on this site prefer to believe the govt's lies about the carbon tax and the ETS - neither of which is responsible for the rise in the price of power.
