I'm not sure whether this should be in hot topics or political but it caught my eye today:

Students need to be able to read, write, count, think and know enough about Australian and world history to have some understanding of why things happen as they do

In my opinion the teachers of today need to go back to school. Not wanting to do the age thing here,but when I went to school teachers knew how to spell properly and write properly. Making the school curriculum simpler leaves very little scope for bright kids. Also teaching 'morals' at school. Should this not be a job for parents? So that when kids arrive at school they have some idea how to behave.

Great idea Phyl......followed by a bit of head kicking...just to be fair.

Even fairer woul be throwing dumb bell off the Queen's horse.

On the whole this thread has been very educational. I recommend that some of these dunderheads and they know who they are should return to kindy.

I think payment of $ 1000 from ech member is very reasonable to have 2 moderators.

Well folks after a week, it’s time to go. The point is life is really too short to put up with this. This forum is not a healthy place for me to be. Although one can put up to a small extent with the foul mouth of Foxy and Davy, I find something very disturbing about Abbey. Tonight Zapot put up a fun post. He meant no harm and I had a good belly laugh. This post of Zapot's however evoked such a jealous rage in Abbey she couldn’t contain herself. I have no need to go into detail. She failed to see the humour in what Zapot said and went completely beserk as you can see for yourselves. You can rest assured Abbey that Zapot was only joking, this forum doesn’t need a moderator least of all me, it just needs to have You, Foxy and Davey off it in order to give the others a chance to group together and get some fun out of a forum that was provided for enjoyment.

Phyl I’m afraid you were wrong when you said today that Abbey is not vindictive (I can see you like to see the best in others) but words speak for themselves. Abbey you’re everything I said you were in my posts today sadly. I would like to give you a little bit of advice for what it’s worth. There is something not quite right and this is meant in a good way, perhaps you should get some tests done and try to uncover the problem. Anyone reading your posts can suss that all is not right. Anyway enough said. Will miss you Phyl and others whom l was getting to know but I consider myself a well balanced old codger and if I keep logging into this forum I might lose my balance.

University of Sydney poetry professor Barry Spurr, one of the specialist reviewers of the English curriculum, has been suspended from academic duties after leaked emails showed him referring to "abos", "mussies" and "chinky-poos".

Professor Spurr argued in his subject review that the impact of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander literature in Australia had been "minimal" and that there should be a greater focus on western civilisation in the curriculum.
