Cannot understand why people are so concerned about calling black people black.

Now Ba BA Black Sheep is being changed because it is offensive _

Whats offensive - if a sheep is black its black.

I have fond memories of spending endless hours baking on Elwood beach trying to go as dark brown as possible and I bet many of you did the same thing.

We have needed to enact laws to stop people going to Solariums - to go brown.

When in a conversation do you need to refer to the colour of someones skin ?

Some people are fat and the word fat is not changed and neither does that need be spoken of.

If a person is fat , if a person is tall , if a person is short , - then they are and the same as their colour and I cannot see the reason for this stupidity.

One would think that the person themselves were not aware that they were black and that to say they were would be offensive to them

All people are born equal and it bothers me that some people believe that some people need protection - from what - from the colour of their skin?

At our church we have people of every shade and there is no difference that I can find -

most people are great to know if you give them a fair go

BUT remember some people of any nation are like Pit Bulls and will attack the meekest without warning

Would appreciate your opinion in this regard.

I have a good cure for this malady. We will be able to spend another 2 minutes a week, teaching more Aborigini culture, if we delete all adjectives from the English language. Allright!!! Only 1 minute saved.

That sure would help the problem !!!

Think the whole thing is getting ridiculous, apparently should not say for instance "that is a good boy" or "good girl" because that is sexual stereotyping! What should we say "that's a good child " so we don't mention gender at all. Suggestion has been made that there should be no gender required on forms. Imagine with the weird names abounding that schools trying to make sure that classes have equal mix of boys and girls when they have a large intake could end up with one boy or girl in whole classes because they have no idea of which sex a child is based on the name for instance Casuarina or Malaleuca or Storm. Those are real names being used now for first names. Crazy.

Does that mean you can't say "Good boy!" to your dog?

Or ... people are not "permitted" to call their pets "Blackie"? etc.

Bugger that Twila - our petblack bird who adopted us as he has a trailing wing and cant fly a lot seemingly, comes to 'Blackie" & lived in our back garden for 12 years now. We always have a lot of bird baths around as well as feeding blocks for various species of birds. But he loves bread and waits singing his litttle heart out well after dawn chorus for it in the am. Along with a bunch of sparrows. Cheeky little ones they are too. One seems to have palled up with Blackie as sleeps in same tree where Pete has made sure a bit is covered from rain and wind. Or they go under the wood shelter which may come back into use if the price of gas soars as they say - hope you are all loggin gonto AWU to sign their petition for reserving some of it for us Aussies and for making the government legislate NOT to put up the price to the high one export it is getting, greedy buggers.

Twila, at the rate words are being taken away from us we will need a new dictionary shortly. Problem is I have been using the same one for so long I don't think I could change to a new one.

Welcome back too. I have been away ( went on a cruise) so didn't know you were in hospital. I do hope you are OK and improving.

Thank you friendly Dragon. It's becoming worrying about what words you can and cannot use, especially for us oldies, for whom lots of these words have much different connotations rather than what they mean today.

It is simple Sandi. If you look through your old dictionary, you will find that about 1 of every 8 to 10 words has an adjective. Just delete them all & the political correct nutters will be happy for 2 or 3 weeks, until they find something else to complain about.

Don't you think that the days of political correctness dogma are wearing thin on Aussies ?

Seems the whole western world has had enough of it except for the lefties, and lawyers who delight in making sure it is working to their satisfaction - fat fees for the revolving door that cops are fed up with as catch them and let out to do it all over again excuses badly brought up etc or they didnt understand the law or driving rules or some such and slap on the wrist. Community service. Good behavour bond. And thats for murder now and then.

Look at Sth Africa and the disabled athlete, reckon out in months for killing his girlfriend.

And soldiers being killed by Muslims. London and now Canada.

Only a matter of time before they strike here, we have been really lucky with ASIO no matter that the left say they are inept- not so have caught many plots before carried out to date but law of averages say will lose one and not stop it. they were already stopped when plotting to kill soldiers at Holdsworthy . Of course this is to stop men volunteering to join.
