The story of Pistol and Boo

I see that there are several thousand who have signed a petition to save Pistol and Boo.

To show that I am not politically biased , I agree with Barnaby who said "It's time that Pistol and Boo buggered off back to the United States."

This Depp person arrived in a private jet with his muts.

How come the dogs were allowed into the country without the usual custom proceedings ?

Then I guess we should ask - should people who become famous via tv or films be alowed to ignore rules that apply to normal human beings ?

Our farmers prolly agree with Barnaby.

I agree with Barnaby, we have Quarantine laws for a good reason. Johnny Depps dogs are not ar risk here he just needs to send them back to the U.S. Or agree for them to be in quarantine for 6 months like anyone else bringing in a Pet. One case of potential Rabbies however unlikely on the loose we don't need.

while i love JOHNNY DEPP,    i agree with barnaby,     if we dont ALL abide by the quarantine rules,    all kinds of diseases will be brought into the country,       shouldnt matter who you are,   RULES ARE RULES,       and are there for a purpose,

They have to go straight back from whence they came.

BUT please let them live and not destroy them as none of it is their fault.

I note that Clive Palmer has waded into the debate saying Barnaby will harm the local film industry.

I still agree with Barnaby and disagree with Clive.

Clive is just being bloody minded.  What a nightmare if rabies broke out.

The fault lies with Johnny Depp and also the pilot of the plane who went along with the deceit.  He would surely have know it was illegal to bring these dogs in without them going into quarantine.

I agree with Barnaby too. We have custom rules in place for a good reason and the same rules apply to everyone equally. Was Depp thinking he could get away with it because he's famous? He should be fined and the dogs seized and returned home at his cost but they most definitely should not be euthenased.

....most domestic animals are allowed into most countries these days - U.K. dropped it's Quarantine laws a couple or so years ago and a lot of places in Europe are the same ....Depp and his minder's probably didn't even think that Australia still had such stringent laws.........I know we have these laws BUT I do think this whole situation could have been handled more tactfully!  The whole "scenario" has been blown up way out of proportion!

I also think that Barnaby Joyce telling Depp to "Bugger off" was uncalled for and appalling!!  This fiasco (and his comments...) are now worldwide and the U.S. Talk Shows are having a "hey day" with the "red-neck Aussies" as we are now called!! TMZ also had quite a lot to say - and TMZ rarely give any media time to Australia.... there are ways of handling this and Joyce -  IMO -  did it badly !!!

I'm another who agrees with Barnaby Joyce, sure, it could have been handled a bit better BUT allow for the media hype here too, if they hadn't of reported as they did then it wouldn't have got so out of hand..... As far as 'other countries' and their laws are concerned, we don't give a darn what they do, our laws are stringent for a reason,  Depp should have checked our laws BEFORE he brought  Pistol & Boo in, I can understand him not wanting to leave them home, I hate leaving my girl behind...but... I also feel those dogs would never have been put down, once again the media has created a mountain out of a mole hill....In my opinion the laws are there for EVERYBODY, not just those of us 'smaller folk'....

Agree with you Gerry in every sense here.....

Take Johnny Depp out of the equation and no matter who has brought these dogs in Barnaby Joyce is absolutely correct in what he is doing.

Labor would have done the same thing in power I am sure of that.

We have strict quarantine laws and I think it was a damn cheek for Johnny Depp and his wife to do that.  They knew...noticed they did not carry them off the plane!!

Just on another tangent;  did anyone notice the pictures taken of the property showing the dogs in the lounge room.

Surely that is an invasion of their privacy as I would bet my bottom dollar that a "drone" was used to get those photographs.  I could be wrong...what do others think??
