What a funny old fellow.....

Humphrey B Bear at Movie World where he will take up headquarters at Village Roadshow Studios. Photo: Steve HollandWe are all children at heart and no doubt like my children, yours grew up with Humphrey.B.Bear...

The iconic bear wandered across our TV screens in 1965 and has won the hearts of both kids and adults for more than 50 years...and now he is back...The veteran bear will host live shows across the Glitter Strip at the Gold Coast and is currently working on his own TV show and feature film to be announced later in the year.I also had the pleasure of a short but endearing performance with Mr.B bear back in the early 70's...such fun..

Now another generation will now love this big cuddly childrens character ,and no doubt will give rise to the familiar chant : "Humphrey, Where's your Trousers?..."

Never mind old fella, Even if nobody else acknowledges your return...

I still love ya, bare butt and all...lolol

My kids grew up with Humphrey B Bear, they loved him. I wondered what happened to him and am glad to read he will be returning to entertain a new audience of youngsters. I would love to have seen you Cranky performing with hairy one.

THE END.

Yes, well loved in our household too Cranky.

He was born in Adelaide in 1965 - same year as my daughter.

Pleased to see that he will now entertain another generation of children.

Hooray for Sandi....

My first born son was born in 1966, So Humphrey was well established by then.

It will be interesting to see if he has the same effect on today's children as he did on ours..

Although I did read somewhere that a few years ago the fellow inside the suit lost his temper and punched a bloke who was bullying a little kid in front of an audience and was sacked..I hope this one has a little more control and biffs him outside ,behind a shed...

You do realise there is someone in there don't you...LOL...:)

My daughter had a Humphrey B bear soft toy - wish I still had it !

What about 'fat cat'....(politically incorrect)

My kids weren't really fond of cats Cindylou. It was Bears all the way...

Mothers influence I'm afraid.

I still have a room full of the furry creatures from way back...I keep sending some to the kids hospital but they still manage to breed...lol

Humphrey was big in our house too many years ago.

So was Big Dog 'Goodnight girls and boys' on NBN.

Also read that Humphrey is scheduled to travel to the United Kingdom in March to meet Charles, Prince of Wales and Paddington Bear.

I never saw Big dog RnR. I wonder where I was, but sure is cute...

So our famous Bear is off to tour London...How exciting for him...

I adore PADDINGTON BEAR.. :)

I wonder if "ALL'  three will shed their suits and have a getogether at the palace after the scheduled meeting?...LOLOL

RnR/Cranky  believe it or not I am friends with PADDINGTON BEAR on Facebook and his owner arrives tomorrow from China.

Paddington Bear has travelled everywhere in the world with her and my daughter who travels with TIGGER.

PS not the real ones of course !!!

Yes Sandi, I have three Paddington Bears also.

in fact all my grandchildren want to sleep in my Bear room...Its quite crowded...lol

The original HBB died a few years ago.  Apart from a few animals he was penniless and they advertised for relatives or friends to claim the body.  No one did but  His body remained at the funeral parlour and I think the Government ended up paying for the funeral and cremation.  Then all the friends turned up.

Think it disgraceful that Channel 7 or 9 after all the years of making money on him, didn't come to the party, as he was acknowledged as the best of the Humphreys.

Agree - typical of big corporations, very sad to hear of his neglected demise.

Sad story but why should the TV companies be responsible? Are they responsible for all their 'stars' future wellbeing and funerals when the time comes?

Agree in principle that the network is not responsible, but on the scheme of things a very basic cremation costs what, about 2-3k, thats nothing to large corporations.  I suppose they don't want to start a 'helping practice'...just a shame...and what about the so called friends

I have always loved Humphrey Bear as did my daughter who was 40 last year.

My eighteen year old granddaughter  has always been a huge fan and we have quite

a collection of Humphrey bears. money boxes and other pieces collected over

the years.

Was never fond of fatca tho

We all loved Humphrey Bear too Cranky...but the one that got the children off to bed when he said "Goodnight children, time for bed"...was Flapper the elephant...he used to be quite popular here in Perth...but then Channel 9 got rid of him...

Image result for picture of flapper the elephant on australian TV

Thea -  I personally don't remember Flapper, she looks so cute with those beautiful ears, sought of reminds me of someone I know.,

Thought that would get you off your exercise machine...lol

Hola..STW9  were the ones who "invented" Flapper and I believe his shows were mainly in the West..

Such a cute little thing...and does remind me too of someone...lol

Gee thanks Thea - I was on the bike at 6a.m. this morning, later in the day is all to hot for me. I seem to have come to a standstill re. the weight. They say you hit a plateau, I think I've hit a wall. It's so disheartening. Reagan - where are you, maybe you can give me some tips.

Hola, I am on that plateau with you..damn it  LOL.

I get to 66 and I cannot get any lower.  I am up walking early most mornings 30 to 45 mins before breakfast.

Of course the fact that I eat what I like and have the odd drink or two does not help but I would have thought I would have gone below the 66....;(

Hiya Hola - first  thing don't let it get you down. Everyone hits blocks from  time to time.

Two questions - what time of day do you have your first workout and do you have anything to eat before hand?

what happens when you dont work out,   >    oh,   thats right,    you get like me,  lol, lol,  would if i could,   but if i bend down,   i stay there until someone helps me up,     was VERY embarassed in safeway a few weeks ago,    was trying to get a particular soap and it was wayyyyyyyy down the bottom shelf,    i bent down to get it,    and got stuck,    i couldnt get up,     some bloke came past.   who looked older than me,    and got my arm,    i hurried out with my head down,  lol,

Geez Reagan, talk about a personal trainer...those two questions have me wondering...sounds like a picnic before pleasure..if you can call exertion pleasure..

covered that well didn't I. ? :) lol

and Cats..that picture is now stuck in my head.....lol

Reagan - I usually get up about 6 a.m. and have a glass of water before getting on the exercise bike. I pedal for 40 minutes and then have a light breakfast. Should I increase the exercise?

40 minutes on an excercise bike ? Hola that's a great effort..

The extent of my excercise that time of the day is lifting my spoon..should I increase my breakfast cereal Reagan??? Lol

I sgree Hola's making a great effort cranky and no do not increase your breakfast cereal, change to oatmeal LOL

Hi Hola, sorry for the delay, was celebrating Chinese new year.

You know the old saying women are from Venus, men are from Mars? It’s the same in exercising we have different ways of burning fat. While it’s fine for men to have a glass of water before exercising, with women it’s the opposite. Ladies should have something to eat half an hour before exercising. Won’t complicate things by going into much detail but trust me. In a nutshell men have larger muscle mass and store carbs to get them through a workout, not women though. Here is a suggestion, think about it:

Have a banana or a 50ml bowl of oatmeal or 1 and half Hi Bran weetbix at 6am, then wait 30 minutes after eating before getting on your bike. You can still have a small glass of water.

Here comes the hard part, to get the most out of a  workout, women should’t eat straight after exercise but wait an hour. Yep, you saw right! You can have sips of water while you wait etc.  If you can run to 45 minutes on the bike even better. Now that I’ve messed up your routine, you won’t speak to me again LOL

Neither will I....I am not a darned horse....

I can't stand oatmeal...lol

HA HA CRANKY,   get it out of your head QUICK,   it wasnt a pretty sight,  believe me,  these old knees are not what they used to be,

CRANKY,   talking about oatmeal,   reminds me of a time,   years ago,     before i was married,   a friend and i shared a flat,    we were flat broke,   and 3 days before pay day,    only thing we had in the cupboard was a packet of porridge and a tin of golden syrup,    we lived on that for 3 days,     i have never been able to eat porridge since,     my doc suggested i eat it,   as it is good for cholesterol,    but no way,      good old days,   ?   some were,  lol,

Yes Cats, some really weren't. but we survived.....just..lol..

Hahahaha..How did Humphrey.B Bear transcend into push bikes and oatmeal...

I should shout "OFF TOPIC"..but its all so interesting...LOL

Sorry Cranky...if Humphrey Bear could speak he'd  say..."I am the topic...lol"

ha ha cranky,  thea,    yes we are off topic,    and im surprised we havent been reprimanded by now,     obviously the FOLLOWERER doesnt like HUMPHREY,   or hed be jumping all over us,  lol.lol,    idiot,     CRANKY,   how we did survive at times,  makes me wonder,    but DEIERDRIE,    my mate and i ,  had some great times,      oh to be 18 again,    lol,

BARAK,   i was not being offensive,    GEOFF was a well liked member of this forum,   you did not even kow him,    to jump in there and srart asking,   WAS IT TRUE,   ANSWER ME,   WAS IT TRUE,      what buisness is it of yours,?    IF you feel you have to comment on a tribute page,   to someone you DIDNT EVEN KNOW,    then just putting R.I.P./// is quite sufficient,    how dare you go on that page and start questioning people about something you know nothing of,    you have been insensitive in the extreme,    no manners,   no decorum whatever,

Reagan - Thanks for all that information. It will be a new me once I get the hang of it. Oatmeal is my favourite choice for breakfast along with Blueberries and Almonds thrown in.  I can manage 45 minutes on the bike, I bought a Recumbent Bike and it shows how many calories i've used up, the distance, heart monitor and time. I've never sweated so much. I feel great after. I only want to lose 6kgs, have managed 2.5 so far. I have a Protein shake for lunch along with an Apple, then Chicken or Fish with  Veges for evening meal. Water whenever. Am I on the right track?

You certainly are Hola, but now I'm convinced I am a train wreck !!!! Lolol

Hola...after reading your post...I went off to have a look at my exercise bicycle..was just about to get on when I saw it...a spider's web...

Now.. I'm not afraid of spiders..I just didn't want to leave the poor thing homeless by sweeping away its web..so I'm in a state of quandary as to what to do..

However.. have to say you're an inspiration...lol

Thea - Don't worry about the spider, I'm sure its already found a new home.

get on that bike and start off easy. I have been used to walking for many years and found it easy once I got back on to it. I h ave a small T.V in the room and watch it while pedalling, you'll be amazed how fast the time goes by.

Hi Hola, Your meal plan is spot on,well done my friend and your breakfast perfect. I have the same: oatmeal, nuts and whatever fruit is available. You are on the  right track! If you need any more tips and think I can help, let me know.

Thea - good advice from Hola, take small steps and build up, always hard the first few days.

Good luck ladies!

Well Hola..I got rid of the spider...found him/her a home somewhere else and did my bike workout...only 30 mins to begin with..then I'll build up..certainly feels good  to make a start...

I think we should pat each other on the back..:)

You all keep cycling,me and my white furry buddy will continue to walk to the beach and back..

I will have you in my thoughts as I trot along the sand,..lol

I'd like to know who is this Bear?  Musta' been way before my time??  Never heard of him/her?................. serious?  lol lol

hahaha pull the other one LOL

Ding Ding...That leg has a nice ring to it Reagan..lolol

Do you mean the one that's got bells and whistles on it Reagan?

Humphrey B.Bear ..who hasn't heard of this lovable bear...born 1965 with last nation wide TV appearances in 2009...anyone missing out must have been born after 2009...so that makes a certain fox...let's see around 7 years old...lol

Très drôle!

WHO HUMPHRY,    yu must know him foxy,     hes as australian as HOLDEN CARS,   MEAT PIES,   KANGAROOS,    lol, lol     i think shes having us on REAGAN.      EVERYONE knows humphry

I'll have one of those too Sandi please, for a different reason than cats though...

lt would be great for Grabbing by the neck..lolol :)

Yes Cranky I think it would come in very handy at times.

Cats - My son was brought up in the mid 90's - Sesame Street - Ninja Turtles - Nintendo 64  (Super Mario/Donkey Kong etc.) and the INTERNET!!  What would I know of this "mangy looking old Bear" ???

......  as I said earlier -  way before "my/our" time!  BTW - I'm not "everyone"!  lol lol lol ...

SORRY FOX,    i thought everyone knew humphry,   SANDI,    have seen pics of these before,   but never seen where you could buy one,    my doc should know,   must remember to ask him next time i go,    would come in handy for a lot of things,

"Mangy looking old bear"? .....

I would start running if I was you, before half the Australian population come down on your head! He is an icon,

Foxy, You sound far too young to be giving an opinion on such a warm and cuddly children's memory of the 70's...

Why on earth would you be smothering yourself in a bunch of old people like us...? LOL...

... might be the reason I rarely venture into any of "your" Topics?   Not nice being "accused of lying" when I said I had not heard of the bear?  ... Oh and BTW haven't you heard  "Age ain't nothing but a number....."    LOL

With age comes experience and maturity..

and being mature is knowing when to keep quiet. :)

FOXY,   im so sorry if i offended you,   but i just assumed everyone had heard og humphry,    he was on kids shows,   but even after that,   he appeared on tv for different things,       i suppose with having grandkids who know humphry,    he is still in my mind,
