Royal Baby Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge

It's a Boy....

More than 100,000 bets have now been put on the baby name, with James the most popular in terms of individual wagers placed with one bookmaker

Kate Middleton has given birth to her third child with Prince William. The happy news was announced by Kensington Palace on Twitter at 1pm on Monday 23 April. The official statement read: "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs. The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well." A second tweet read: "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news." The announcement came just hours after it was confirmed that the Duchess, 36, had been admitted to the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington in the early stages of labour. The baby Prince is fifth in line to the throne, and the Queen and Prince Philip's sixth great-grandchild. His title will be HRH Prince of Cambridge.

.....   LOUIS ...... great choice!

All the other names were old fashioned/boring and hideous!   Be the big "trendy"name now for all males born around the world ........reminds me of the fashion icon -  Louis Vuitton    :-)

A trifecta would have got you some nice money with these sort of odds

Louis - 20/1

Charles - 25/1

Arthur - 9/4

I suggest that he was named after Lord Louis Mountbatten...who was was very highly regarded by the royal family.  He was instrumental in getting Philip and Elizabeth together...he played matchmaker.

He was the one blown up in his boat by the IRA.

Louis the camel.

The Blackpool Zoo have decided to honour it in the best way: by naming a camel calf born on the same day, Louis. The small, double-humped Bactrian camel calf also arrived on Monday 23 April  ...

I am sure Prince Louis will be chuffed :)

:) I imagine there's going to be many babies named Louis from now.

Louis the camel !  How cute.

Yes Darcie

I am sure he is as cute as the baby :)

When I first heard the name I immediately thought there must be a connection to the French king Louis but he's from a German background apparently, quite an honour to be called after a good man who everyone adored.

On 27 August 1979, Mountbatten was murdered when IRA terrorists blew up his boat off the coast of County Sligo, Ireland, near his family holiday home at Classiebawn Castle. Two of Mountbatten's relations and a 15-year old local boy were also killed.

I like the name Louis. We have a street near to me named Louis and everybody calls it Louie Street. Even Louis Armstrong was called Louie.  I suppose it depends what school you went to.

Louis may be alright but if you shorten it is loo
