The Voice - Grand Finale 2018

Did anyone watch the Finale last night? I was bitterly disappointed with the last 4 contestants. And the winner Sam whatever his name is, was a poor choice by the general public. All the contestants sounded like they were in a yelling match to see who could sing the loudest. The "Judges" I thought were pathetic, saying the person they montored was absolutely wonderful and are going a long way with their careers. What a load of poppycock. My son, who has a lot of experience with musicians and singers said the guest artist who came from England, sang out of tune. The Winner by the way won $100.000.00, lets hope he gets more singing lessons.

.... "Voice"  this series was appalling!  Yep Sam won - he was different and used techno. to his  ability/advantage to win!  Not everyone's choice - but - Australia voted!  Like it or not ........... :-)

I agree about the contestants sounding like they were shouting and screaming at the top if their voices.  Raising their voices to such an extent that you couldn't hear the music.  I don't think it would do their vocal chords any good either.  None of the judges raise their voices to tha extent in their personal repotures.

I flicked it on and off ... could not stand the noise

I too found the voice very dissapointing this year with most of the best artists not even getting past the battles or first audition. There needs to be a better process of artists getting through than what there is now. Just because the judges were lucky enough for one reason or another to become successful artists, does not make them experts on some one elses talent. Next season lets find a way that only the best and most talanted get to the finals. I thought that AYDEN and BELLA were very good artists for their ages, but not really ready for $100,000 at this stage of their lives. I hope that next season finds us another John Farnham or Kylie Minogue.

Sorry Hola. Your son's opinion is no more valid than those of the judges or the people who voted!

According to the rules of The Voice, DINGPOO, this year's lot WERE the most talented!

Personally I would like to see either a return of young talent time for all these kids to show off on or raise the entry age to a level where they can cope with the demands made of them. All these shows are populated with kids so young they are either still at school or just left. Most sink without trace after their 15 minutes are up, battered and bruised and perhaps lost to music for ever.

I didn't watch a lot of it this year..not because I didn't think it was good..I just didn't have the time and couldn't be bothered to tape..besides all the best singers were voted out early in the show.

Most of the singers each year are good..so many are well trained..but what I suspect is, many good singers may not get voted in by the public because they are not looking for "good singers" they are after theatre.

I can understand why Sam Perry won..he did something different..it's not my thing but good luck to him. Bella's huge voice would have been more dynamic, in my opinion, had she chosen less of the belters and more classic soul ballads..her big voice would have nailed them and appealed to the public more..

I don't agree Hola about Calum Scott..he didn't sound out of tune to me. He's a gorgeous singer and I thought he sang his new song "You are the reason"..beautifully..love it!

Hi Sophie,  I watched Callum Scott on Utube today singing his latest song. He did sing it lovely with the aid of dubbing. When he sang it on the Voice it was live, and maybe he was tired from travelling, but he did miss a couple of notes. I'm only nitpicking.

The Voice, like most live or reality programs, is so staged. All the techno lights and back production, is not only unnecessary, but totally distracts from the performance.  Then you have the audience, when a singer hits a long note, the audience screams and carries on so loudly, the singer is drowned out.

All in all, I found the whole thing just a lot of noise, and I don't think the public should have the final say.

darcie - Couldn't agree with you more. There's nothing worse than looking down someone's throat when they hit the high notes. The "judges" reckon this was the best Voice ever. I find that totally disgusting. One of the contestants, can't remember his name, used to sing with the Ten Tenors, had a beautiful voice but never got to the finals. It did come down to the public's choice. I always say 'never again' to watch it, but this time I will mean it.

Watching The Voice … can be deadly apparently.

Passenger in self-driving Uber was watching The Voice before fatal crash in Phoenix, Arizona.

Arizona police say the woman riding inside a self-driving Uber that crashed and killed a pedestrian in Arizona earlier this year was watching The Voice on her phone at the time. That might seem like a reasonable thing to do inside an autonomous car, but police say the crash could have been avoided if she had not been distracted, and are looking at a vehicular manslaughter charge.

But shouldn't the Uber have stopped automatically?
No. According to a separate report released by the National Transportation Safety Board last month, the autonomous driving system on Uber's Volvo XC-90 SUV spotted Ms Herzberg about six seconds before hitting her. However, it didn't stop because the system used to automatically apply the brakes in potentially dangerous situations had been disabled. Instead, Uber relies on the human back-up driver to intervene. But the system is not designed to alert the driver in such situations.

So you can't use your phone in a self-driving Uber to watch The Voice and other stuff?
An Uber spokeswoman said in a prepared statement on Friday morning that it was strictly prohibited.

“How bizarre, how bizarre” as OMC would say. Love that song.
