You have to see this 'real estate' video

A Sydney real estate promotional video described as “so breathtakingly horrific that it borders on art” has to be seen to be believed.

The video promoting a four-bedroom house in Sydney, shows a couple pirouetting through the property, cavorting on the kitchen benchtop, and taking advantage of the luxurious appointments offered by the Padstow pad.

On Twitter, it was described as unnecessarily sexual, incredibly funny and “the most real estate agent video I have ever seen”.

The video has gone viral, and has received equal parts ridicule and praise, but agent LJ Hooker has since apologised for the promo saying it “missed the mark” and was “taken out of context by some”.

What do you think of it?

What are they aiming to promote? It looked more like a movie of seduction. I would hate to see my home being displayed in this form. Another ad on T.V. had the music from Dirty Dancing being played in the background. We don't need this type of advertising.

I thought it unnecessary

It’s different. I rather like it for that reason. Don’t much like the house though, especially the weird entrance.

I acts are really no different to that show DWTS  -- just would have done better showing off the house properly

Great ad!! modern, sexy and shows off the house. Only criticism is the guy, needs a better looking chap. Clearly the ad is aimed at young guns, not geriatrics. I’d buy that house.

Another great ad, LOL

Now that's what I call a very funny ad, they reckon it sold for $7M. Good on them.

Agreed Hola.  Creative and funny.  The other one wasn't (the one mentioned in The Guardian).

The ad's fine, but the house too glitzy. Now how many of you haven't tried to get up on the kitchen table to have a go? I know Brocky (bilby)would haha

Yup Reagan, the wife would never let me buy it, too much bling !

The whole idea behind advertising is to make people notice the product and talk about it. On that measure, it seems that the ad has done a very good job whether one likes the content or not as now we are talking about it at no cost to the advertisers.

Old Man you are right, what the ad want it,s the people are talking about it. But the house is not a good in Feng Shui. I think Trump Feng Shui master can fix it..... lol.

i didnt mind the ad,   but  the bloke wasnt much chop,  to short,   i would live in that house,   nice pool,   but the living area looked cold,  the way it was furnished,

Stylish but very cold souless modern look IMO ... much as I like modern and 'uncluttered'. Lots of fancy extras though, as per ad link below.

The Number of the house in Chinese Feng Shui 42 sound like Die Easy means very easy to die.4 plus 2 equal to 6, in Feng Shui 6 means keep coming, also very cold it,s good for those sprilt..lol.

A couple of points most people have missed completely.

First, this ad is not aimed at the majority of people who subscribe to YLC.  I seriously doubt most of us would even want to live in a house like that.  We've reached a point where we want a comfortable lived in look, not a showhouse look.

Basically we are not in the demographic this ad is pitched to.  It is completely irrelevant to us and not worth our time commenting on.

Secondly, advertising is a fraught business these days.  It's everywhere, on TV, billboards, shops, buses, trains and trams, bus stops, train stations, airports, supermarkets, on our phones, computers, pasted on footpaths, shop floors, and of course plastered wall to wall around sporting arenas.  We have reached - and probably passed - peak advertising.

We are sick to death of it.  But there is no other way to get the word out to sell products and services.  So what do you do in a sea of advertising when everyone has tuned out?

And for good measure, a third point.  There is a reason this house looks so sterile.  It's cleaned to within an inch of it's life, and tricked up because it is UP FOR SALE.  Don't we all try and present our houses as best we can when we want to sell for the best price.  Try thinking about stuff a bit more before commenting.

Both videos had me laughing. No doubt about it..sexy advertisements attract some people and I believe both of those houses are now sold!

They are not the type of homes I would be interested in purchasing regardless of how they were advertised, because I like cosy looking places with a lot of wood. However.. every house has a potential buyer.

Amazing. Cool advertising)
