Controversy over Super Bowl nip-slip
People around the world watched the Super Bowl’s high budget half-time show yesterday, but this year we got a little extra… and a little extra controversy. Adam Levine, lead singer of Maroon 5, got totally topless during his on stage performance, sparking a debate among watchers.
In 2004 Janet Jackson had a momentary ‘nip-slip’ during her Super Bowl performance when a part of her shirt was torn away by Justin Timberlake as he sang “I’ll have you naked by the end of this song”. Despite only being exposed for a moment and her nipple remaining covered, the event became one of the most searched images in internet history. The incident resulted in 540,000 complaints, cost the network CBS $550,000 and was thought to compromise Janet’s career.
However, when pop star Adam Levine voluntarily reveals much more on the same stage years later the public didn’t seem to blink.
The internet was flooded almost immediately by tweets comparing the varying response to Jackson and Levine’s ‘exposure’. One angry viewer tweeted "so Adam Levine gets to show his nipples but it was the scandal of the century when Janet Jackson accidentally showed hers???? ok."
Should public response be so different to these events? Should we continue to implement different standards on the behaviour of men and women?

I don't think we should implement standards on varying behaviours..however..having said that..men and women are different let's face it. Women need to think twice before they do certain things or be prepared to face the backlash.
Adam Levine looked awful..I hate tatoos but can't understand what all the fuss is about. According to my husband..the best act of the night was the Spongebob. I fell asleep during the whole thing!
