Alert if still running W 7 or 8
Today turned on my desk top to work and it went to configure updates. Now I have not got auto updates turned on - but tell me and let me choose. And of course well past second Tuesday anyway.
So waited and on and on it went 35% and after 30 mins did emergency turn off and then safe mode, and back it came 35% so left it go whilst waiting to see what happened.
Eventually 1 and 1/2 hours later it stated up normally and then immediately said that an important update was available.
It was KB2952664
Which if you remember is the invitation to go over to W10.
So if on auto get off it immediately and if not and this happens t oyou -well stick it out and wait.
then hide it when starts up.
Seems they havent given up on getting us all to go to W10.
I still have the GWX program installed and on lap top too which will boot up after lunch as had to catch up etc and see as that too is protected with GWX so if you took it down and havent yet had this happen - get it back down again and install.

MS have invetigated and assured those running latest versions of W7 and 8.1 are safe as OS has been patched already.
Good to know.
Dont take down GWX10 though as it is still working against those patches which via telemetry let in those for W10 and ultimately the one we hid and which keeps on coming back.
There are lists of the patches which should be removed.
But people have to be interested which seemingly not on this forum as Technology gets very little coverage.
