A couple in Perth’s northern suburbs have made a desperate plea to thieves to return their dog, which was stolen from their front yard on Friday night.

Nine-year-old Mitzy is believed to be the victim of a dognapping after security cameras caught a man luring the pet away from the home.

The footage showed a man driving a ute stop by the home when he spots the little dog.

He then gets out of the vehicle and whistles at Mitzy. The dog then disappears from view.

The incident occurred just before 8.30pm on Friday in Sinagra, in the City of Wanneroo.

The thief was believed to be driving a white Commodore ute with a black roof, a hard tonneau cover and aftermarket exhaust.

Mitzy’s owners are desperate to have their pet returned home safely.

“Please just return her ... take her to a vet, take her anywhere, no questions asked,” they told 7NEWS.

“Please just don’t hurt her.”

I have had my dog stolen years ago when he was only 2 years old, they took him and wanted to breed with him but he didn't have his accompaniment!   So he was not much good to any breeder.

This was in the UK and it is a very big business for pedigree dogs.

He was handed into the RSPCA who didn't check to see if they had the correct animal and owner when a thief came to claim him. 

But one has to be a idiot to steal an old dog!  LOL

But it still hurts when a member of the family is stolen.

Just goes to show how low some people can be.
