Another dud deal with the usa

we are buying jet fighter planes with known problems, and now bombs - none of which will work "until at least 2023", when they be even more obsolete than they are now!

"The estimated $386 million weapons deal includes up to 2,950 GBU-39/B Small Diameter Bombs Increment I (SDB I) and up to 50 guided test vehicles. The sale also includes containers, weapons system support equipment, support and test equipment, training equipment, and spare and repair parts, as well as overall logistical support.

Australia is planning to acquire total of 72 F-35A Joint Strike Fighter aircraft, at a cost of around A$98 million ($70 million) per plane. (The RAAF’s F-35A Joint Strike Fighter aircraft are slated to reach full operating capability in 2023.)"

however, there are some slight problems .....

"the F-35B variant had difficulties fitting the SDB II, an upgraded variant of the SDB I, into its truncated weapons bay without modifications. (The A and C variants of the F-35 feature larger weapons bays.) The entire fleet of F-35 will not receive the software required to operate the SDB II until at least 2022."

Maybe we should invest in white flags .

The thing that realy gets me (I am overwhelmed by all of the beaurocratic incompetance) is that the morons we pay a lot of money to still have their jobs, pensions etc.

Where is the encouragement to perform at a mearly accepable level??

I knew these pricks are dumb but this takes the cake, what a total waste of money

All I can say is do not believe everything you read. While I am not familiar with the F35 buy I have been involved, albiet at a desk officer level, with other major defence projects. The rubbish that was written by so called journalists about these projects was mind boggling; these are journalists that would never let the truth stand in the way of a good story. What they do is take a set of facts and weave a pack of lies, similar to politicians.

We should be spending more money on peacekeeping efforts than preparing for war, this makes me sick the amount of money the Government can find when they say we are in debt and have to raise pension age etc.

Yes that will really help against North Korea ..

The USA has got that covered.

Their rockets can reach Australia .Do you think we have no interest.

The Chinese have set up bases on our trade routes . Should we leave this to the USA as well.

Why do you want to start a nuclear war? We will need all the money to repair the damage if it comes to that, no amount of airplanes are going to prevent it, no one wins in a nuclear arms war.

Well the whole strategy of the Cold War was called Mutualy Assured Destuction .

This meant as long as each side know that if they unleashed nuclear weapons they would be destroyed .

Therefore no one did. if we do not arm ourselves we deserve to loose the country.

We have a lot of raw materials that other countries would like.
