Are you being hugged by strangers today?

If you are finding yourself being grabbed by strangers and being hugged today, there may be a good reason.

Today is officially Hug an Australian Day.

We don’t usually hear a lot about this because there is no National Hug An Australian Day, but this is a real worldwide event.

April 26 is a date where you can expect to be grabbed by strangers and given a big cuddle, especially if you happen to be travelling, or live overseas.

Hug an Australian Day was an event found by Ruth and Thomas Roy of wellcat.com and it has grown enormously over the years, with TV star Ellen DeGeneres tweeting about it way back in 2013.

hugs are vital to the behaviour of a person. hugs give people a warm feeling. people who don't get hugs are volatile and unfulfilled. if you have no one to hug go and hug next door's dog or cat.

hell i'm no that desperate thanks very much. Okay i do like hugs as well but i have a condition, i'm allergic to other ppls Bedbugs.

It seems not a lot wash too well these days, or perhaps they don't feel them.

ITs amazing how bedbugs you can get from someone after just hugging them.

And then i itch for the rest of the day?? Make not for a pleasant day for me then :(

I remember waiting to meet a friend at Spencer Street Station where a young lass was holding up a sign, "Free Hugs". I kept my distance as I thought it may have been a prank for some T.V station. Some people did give her a hug and after about 20 minutes she came over to me and asked me. What could I say but "Yes". You know, I felt so good when that happened as I was feeling a little down. I asked her what she was doing this for and she said it was for a school project, to see how people reacted to having their 'space' invaded.  I felt good for the rest of the day. Is there an International Hug Day going around the world?
