Roger Federer had some anxious moments before seeing off in-form Russian Nikolay Davydenko to claim his 23rd consecutive Grand Slam semi-final spot at the Australian Open.
France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga gained a measure of revenge for his defeat in the 2008 Australian Open final by beating Novak Djokovic in their quarter-final.
The 10th seed, beaten by the Serbian in four sets in the 2008 decider, came from a set down to win a thrilling encounter 7-6 (10/8), 6-7 (5/7), 1-6, 6-3, 6-1.
He earned a semi-final berth on Friday against world number one Roger Federer.
Both are great sportsmen but I think Federer will be too good for Jo.
