STRONG GUSTY WINDS DEVELOPING ALONG THE COAST.

Weather Situation:
A complex low over the Tasman Sea is directing a vigorous westerly airstream over New South Wales. Winds are expected to funnel through the coastal valleys in the Hunter and Illawarra. Winds will tend southerly along the coast in the late evening and into tomorrow as a wind change moves up the coast.

DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are possible.

Gusty winds about the Illawarra Escarpment and Hunter coast are forecast through Sunday.

A southerly wind change is forecast to move up the coast later this evening, extending to the Hunter coast by late Monday morning. Damaging winds associated with showers may result in damaging wind gusts for the coastal fringe with this change.

Locations which may be affected include Newcastle, Gosford, Sydney, Wollongong, Nowra and Batemans Bay.

A wind gust of 80 km/h was observed at Bellambi AWS at 8:30am Sunday.
