Charities not always grateful for contributions.

I have lost a dear friend yesterday, she passed away in her sleep. Her Sister got in touch with me thanking me for all the years we had been friends. She also said that when her Sister had her 80th birthday in March, instead of us sending presents,  to donate to Ronald Macdonald House. So all the family donated $50.00 each to the total of $700.00. Not even a thank you from them and now they have received a letter asking for donations to Ronald Macdonald House. They are all disgusted and will never donate again.

Sad Hola. Seems to be the way with so many charities today.

Many won't even accept one-off donations and want to sign you up for a monthly contribution instead.

Sorry for your loss Hola encountered with such an unpleasant experience.

Thanks girls for your comments. I only got a phone-call yesterday asking me to donate to Children with Cancer. I told her i have already donated along with 3 other charities.  She said this was a one-off thing and repeated my address. I got a bit short with her because I had already donated. I know they are only doing their job, plus they get paid a commission, but said once a year is good enough for me, not every 6 months. End of conversation.

Unfortunately our Politicians think that even if we are on the DO NOT CALL LIST that they, surveyors and charities are a fair go.

None of these people pay for your phone and it opens you up to scammers.
