chocolate mousse using avocado

Was watching The Doctors program yesterday and saw this healthy recipe on there.

Going to give it a go as I see avocadoes are only 99 cents at our local Spudshed this week.

I do think I'd prefer dark chocolate instead of the cocoa

Ok Abby, here is the verdict

Finished making it a few minutes ago.  Took no time at all.  

I only had two very small avocadoes so I altered the recipe slightly to 1/3 cup of cocoa and adjusted the honey to the same.  I used almond milk.  You can use any milk.

Threw in a few blueberries I had in the freezer (and after blending the whole lot up together) and once I had put into small glasses I put a couple more on top as decoration.

I have to wait a few hours for it to firm up a bit more BUT the verdict after licking the blender clean is "very nice".

Will eat them after dinner tonight.  I put into 4 small glass cups I had as did not want a huge amount to eat at one time.

Sounds like a good recipe Radish, what was it like after firming up in the fridge? Does the taste of the Avocado or Chocolate dominate?

Viv, apologies have not replied sooner...did not see your post until today.

I have made it a few times and I just alter the recipe until there is no taste at all of the avocado.  Yesterday I had about  squares of dark chocolate in the frig and i wanted to use it up.  Also had a small avocado so just melted the chocolate on the defrost setting...took about a minute or two...just keep testing till soft...I also put in about 8 blueberries from the freezer and some maple syrup.   I did not use cocoa.

Suggest you try with a small avocado and see how you go.  I does not go hard in the frig...just not runny.  I fold greek low fat yoghurt through when I come to eat it.
