Crowded House Live At Sydney Opera House

To mark the 20th anniversary of their farewell concert, Crowded House performed last night at the Sydney Opera House.

Crowded Houses' hit songs cross generations - so whether you are 30 or 70, chances are you will know and love at least one of the bands several hits. Better Be Home Soon, Weather With You, Something so Strong, Don't Dream it's Over and Four Seasons in One Day are songs instantly recognisable for this Australian rock band.

I tuned in last night and have to admit while the show was basic and plain visually, there is no need for the glitz and glamour when a band can sing so well live. There was something very simple yet magnificant about the performance that made it a great viewing experience that will make me watch it again in the near future.

Did you watch the show? What did you think?

You can watch the full replay of the event at www.abc.net.au.

Ha ha This thread was a winner.

You are Drew and not of our age group so why dont you go to somewhere you are acccepted. I don't even know what a crowed house is....probably a pop group maybe.

Leon is close to not being in touch too.

Who pays your wages? Taxpayers?

Kick me out if you want for contesting you because I'm sick of the crap that goes on.

Hi Campbell,

We may not be of your age group, but Crowded House are an Australian favourite, So we thought it'd be nice to share some quality music with you all!

Thanks for sharing your opinion though.

Cheers

Leon

I'm nearly seventy and I really like the music of Crowded House. Some great Aussie/Kiwi bands around when CH were in their heyday  — including Split Enz, Dragon and Max Merritt and the Meteors.

Campbell, thats a bit of a loose comment to make, music is music, and as I have many grandchildren ,a lot in their late twentys, it is quite interesting to listen to their choice of music, .( granted I can't decifer half of the lyrics in some).

I am closing in on seventy too, and I adore the old 40's/50's era, my cabinet is full of old time treasures. but then I'm an all rounder, country, classic, and even some rap...

If you have melody in your soul, it matters not how old you are..the important thing is that you can still hear it...  :)

Cranky -  I too love most types of music. Sometimes when I'm in my car and an old favourite comes on I turn up the volume and bounce to the music. The person in the car next to me looked at me and probably thought, "Silly old fart", who cares, the louder the better. I love to listen beyond the voices and pick out different instruments, Drums and Bass Guitar get me in every time., love the rhythms. "If music is the food of Love - Play On".

...and if I drew up next to you Hola..I would be joinging in!!!

Have never been to a crowded house concert or bought their music but my son likes them and I've listened to some of it...one song I particularly like is called "Pour Le Monde"..

Good one Thea. I'm not familar with Crowded House but do like "Better Be Home Soon". I think I mentioned a few weeks ago I saw " Dream Lover - The Bobby Darin Musical". Loved it, loved it, loved it. I was asked by a friend to see it again last week and jumped at the offer. I think I'm stuck in the 60's, had some wonderful times.

I  too am closing in on 70, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching Crowded House and I sang along with many of the songs, just as I did 20 years ago. Gosh, was it really 20 years ago? !!     seems like yesterday.

I also sing along with the radio in the car and often get a shock when I realise that the song, which I can remember every word of, is  50 or more years old. I don't feel any older than I did when it was new.  (I do know some newer ones too!)

The 60's was my era, but I also enjoy listening to all kinds of music from classical to country to R&B and hiphop.I agree with Cranky, listening to music and singing along is good for the soul.

At the end of the concert, Neil Finn said, " hope to see you again soon"  I hope that he meant it!

I saw it and loved it. Just tuneful, interesting lyrics, sung well. A most enjoyable and relaxing evening, listening while having a glass of wine, and singing along quite often. There are some rude and mean people on this forum, no need for it. You can disagree without being rude, or is that a lost art these days?

Liked Crowded House and watched the playback concert which was darn good. My favourites though were Powderfinger and Silverchair (great band).
