Does anyone know of a good turntable?
After reading the mod's thread about Neil Young, I must say, there are some albums that just sound better on vinyl. But the convenience of digital is awesome. Still, I have Harvest on vinyl, as well as a heap of old delta blues albums, but I don't have a turntable any more. I want to make it my mission to find a decent turntable, so I can play my old albums again and hear them in their natural state.
It's funny. I was talking to my dad about this recently and he reckons that anyone who says vinyl is better than CD or good quality digital sound only says that because they never grew up with 8-track and vinyl and tape. I was a tape and vinyl kid. Vinyl is still nice, but tape was terrible. Convenient, but terrible. Digital quality is great and convenient, but I agree with the mod that there is something warm about vinyl.
Does anyone have any advice on a good turntable?
I like CD'S myself becuse they are more compact and I have players for them in my car, TV and PC.
My records went to charity a long time ago and the guts of the equipment were pulled out and and the associated furniture was recycled.... these days I do not think my hearing would be keen enough to note the difference in quality.
