Double dissolution.

Seems like the only way to go to me. Either the Labours gets in, or the Liberals get in. Either way, there are going to be the inevitable "losers", who will not be happy. Win, lose or draw, seems like the independants, hold power now.

What made you say that Bev - this has been the rumour and they have set up a trigger but Libs are going to pass the Alcopops so no go there and that leaves ETS which like maternity leave wont start until after next election so can change it or wear it I guess.

Even so with the latest poll after the Budget showing the ALP and the Liberals only one point behind - I reckon Rudd will not now risk it.

Mind you I hope he does and gets shafted the way he has shafted all pensioners after that false leaking prior to the Budget where everyone would get a cut and didn't really - only the poor old pensioner who loses another 10c if earns a bit to help out the bills.

Talk about kicking the most disadvantaged - age pensioners are just that as no one will give them a job - whereas many others who also get the rises can work and young enough to do so too - in the teeth and helping out those who are not.

Fair and equitable - I THINK NOT

Very interesting analogy, BigVal. It would be very smart of Libs to pass the Alcopop Bill, but KRudd could still push the Medicare & the Budget, in it's entirety by August, or September. It was very interesting that CentreBet was giving odds on Thursday, that showed a big swing against KRudd. I also heard that the Greens had won Freementle, which Labor have held since 1924. I still believe that KRudd will go early, whilst Turnbull is too busy pulling Liberal knives out of his back I would tend to think that he would choose to try it on, this year with a reasonal chance of winning, or wait until next year & be fighting against Costello or Hockey & be on a certain loser, especially as the Global effect on Australia, will be near it's worst by election time. Having said all that, I would have loved to take bets last week, but I wouldn't risk one now

Hope you are right Innes. Turnbull is o no favourite of mine either - now Costello could win us back - but only if he does something re pensioner couples and he is bi on heart as he was the only one who ever said that the salary packages for CEOs etc were obscene.

Still not gone through all the Budget - have you. I aim to look at cuts to immigration if any.

Bet they are not to be found - seems only to have hit the elderly who have idle hands hence the work bonus which I want more details of and lucky if you can get a job part time as recession anyway and not even easy in good times over 40 or so is it?

Peter Costello brought in the Age Discrimination ACt 2004 but still see ads up to age 35 or so when this is supposedly against it - has to be up to retirement age which is 65 - same as in UK. Where they all go up to 65 and rather take on older workers as not on drugs nor on phone or off with kids or off because out clubbing all night etc etc.

I have still not gone through the budget, in full.

I would love to see some sort of control over the CEO packages, but can't see any way of achieving a legislative result.

I don't believe that there are any cuts in migration in the budget, but Skilled migration has been cut dramatically, recently, anyway.

I don't see any possible change in the older employment, until they alter the awards applying to older workers, at least when the Government insists on the unfair dismissal legislation. What HR executive would allow the employment of a man over 60, as against employing an under 30, when they know the chances of long lasting illness are up by 1000%, especially when they can't get rid of them?

I think the Libs have fast tracked backwards - knowing they would not win, if an election was called later this year. Until they get some-one with as much charisma as Rudd, (which he is fast losing), they wouldn't risk it. Reckon Joe Hockey would probably be as good a bet as any. Don't think, personally, that Costello would bring the Libs to fore. He's played it too sneaky now and generally, Aussies don't like sneaks..

Innes said What HR executive would allow the employment of a man over 60, as against employing an under 30, when they know the chances of long lasting illness are up by 1000%, especially when they can’t get rid of them?

But if no one tries and stays apathetic like so many of the old folk who seem to behave as if 100 instead of a mere 60 !!! Talk themselves down far too many and to hear them go on about technology makes me puke. They are not doing us any good - 60 is the new 40 they say.

Also of course main thing is to go and try for the job and if you have the necessary qualifications and the HR person puts on a younger person - take them to the Age Discrimination Board - has to be one and if not have to form one as I reckon never been challenged!!!!!!!!!!!

When I have time and not right now far too busy with sever projects on the go - will research it.

As each day passes, I'm more convinced that the Libs would be foolish to force a DD. Even with the extensive information provided on this forum and others, by BigVal especially here, I don't think the man in the street has any inkling of how bad things are, and how much worse we're in for....as a country..not just pensioners.

I watched Lateline last night.

Tony Jones "interviewed" Rudd.

I've never heard or seen a stranger interview.

Rudd sounded as though he had verbal diarrhoea....he was babbling on and on and on, and he was very rattled..no doubt about it.

But it would be better to watch the video if you can.

So my point is, that if we have a DD, and the Libs won.....unlikely...but a possibility....they would have no hope of undoing the mess, as it would still be unfolding at the time.

If 60 is the New 40, what's the problem with working until you're 67?

PS to my last post.

I heard an economic commentator on the radio this am say the debt will probably blow out to $400/$500 Billion.

Actually I think he has just kept his own council in the face of the left wing media who just want to stir up leadership tensions in the Liberal Party and let the Turnbull run out of time or ambition.

Young girl they interviewed this morning on Breakfast on the ABC regarding the second poll showing Rudd again slipping 10 points and she was obviously typical dumb blomd sterotype and lived up to it - said she didn't understand it all really and then came the punch line "but I will vote for Rudd again".

Dumb bunny confirmed.

I personally don't care if the man who can manage the country and give us all a good standard of living is the ugliest least appealing man in the world.

Not voting for his looks or personality but his management skills.

Seems those Aussies who do think and understand politics can see that a mistake was made in trusting this Rudd lead team to manage our economy.

Hasn't taken but a few months actually 8 months since GFM which may or may not be as hyped as the Swine flu - but certainly he talked us down and then proceeded to throw away money he should have kept in case the recession really did bite and money now all gone and in debt up to our next two generations lives paying it off and still we have not got the type of deep recession he threatened - bit like his Budget only hit the most disadvantaged as usual and a sop for single pensioners that can live in a big 10 bedroom mansion with 10 sharing expenses and get the single pension!!!

I always have thought the world was going perverse and now confirmed.

If 60 is the New 40, what's the problem with working until you're 67?

Well now you have hit on human nature - they all want o be thought young - spend heaps on cosmetic surgery etc but don't want to told they have work that extra 2 years. rofl

Koko - thanks for the link - I watched most of the video - he is definitely getting rattled in his performances and that one was a brama!

Tony Jones is very left wing and for him to do such a hostile interview of a Labor man is rare as hens teeth

rofl.

I wanted Tony to ask well 13.4% of 2013's GDP how do you know that the estimated GDP is right?
