Gov handing out 16 million today to overseas countries

Money we have to borrow too.

Madness IMHO just so they - pollies all of them - except a few like Pauline or Cory - just want to strut the world stage as equals.

And we here at home will be ones going without again as usual these days.Waiting lists and cuts to welfare etc for citizens here.

Got to rid ourselves of these old parties far too embedded in culture of being a pollie.

Go Pauline Go Cory both trying for that common sense change.

Got to try for changing the mind set of far too many who are brain washed into political correctness of the Left.

Which seeing as MT is a leftie explains the whole reason why spending our money on foreigners who hate our guts.

Far to many Politicians today are left wing and its decades of political correctness that has brought us to this parlous state of affairs where we go without to pay for foreigners because of course they pick non whites being the Left are the racists.

Cant even tell the difference on a race either. Islam is an Ideology not a race. Covers all skin colours.  But left ignore that as they do anything they dont like.

This is a wealthy country and we should be helping poorer nations. 16m is not enough, we should give more. The rest of us will just have to tighten our belts.

... lol lol - what rubbish!  Most Australian's would beg to differ!!!   No doubt you are "joking'"????

"Rubbish" is in the eye of the beholder.

Agree Ben, we have to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

Charity begins at home

fix the issues that are not being fixed due to inadequate funding

then by all means help others  through worthwhile causes

this business of aid is akin to watching some of your kids starve while you as a parent goes out of their way to save a strangers kid from starving

People look at Foreign Aid in a very simplistic way, this aid is often tied to trade, human rights and other political solutions.  It is not just a case of the PM of Australia meeting a foreign leader and saying "Hey he/she is a nice person, let's sling them a lazy $10 M.  An allocation of money may be tied to hundreds of other issues being managed between Australia and the country involved.

Apart from that, it is the duty of the fortunate yo help out the one's who are not so fortunate when they can.

If humane, civilised behaviour is just the domain of the left, then they can sign me up, because I don't want anything to do with the Right if the opposite is what they stand for.  And it must also be stated that the Right has supported foreign aid just the same as the Left, or are you saying all politicians are part of the Left PC Brigade know?
