HAAC Package

Hi All,

I have a friend aged 73 she is chronically ill with degeneration of spine and emphysema she is currently being assessed for an HAAC package, this will enable her to have help in the house and maybe in the yard, however here in Perth WA, there is no avenue for help with a pool, this lady has no family assistance, is on an aged pension, has no resource to extra money, the reason she needs her pool maintained is for health reasons, she cannot walk very far at all and pool activities keep her moving.

This lady is prepared to pay for all chemicals but finds maintaining the mechanical and functioning
of the pool impossible, does anyone know of a way to solve this problem which is probably not an isolated incident.

Regards Lorraine

Here in South Aust we would contact the local Council who would either provide at minimal cost or refer us to a cheap quality contractor.............and a person to do the job might only charge $ 10 per hour

..........

She should definitely talk to them

In my NSW town, we have a Government funded Home Maintenance and Modification scheme. It is designed to help older people stay in their own homes. At the moment, they have mowing, for $15 per hour, not sure if a pool would come under their care. I know they have helped me with things I could not afford to pay for at the usual rate charged by handymen or others. I've had my gutters cleaned out for $30 - no way I could get up a ladder and do it myself, and the usual quoted price was from $60 up. They tend to assess each job on it's merits - some I've only had to pay for the parts used, with no labour cost included. I've found them to be very helpful.

Well done Bev ..... :)
