Heart Foundation removes offensive ad

The Heart Foundation has removed its latest television commercial from YouTube after it was branded as being offensive by media experts.

The advertisement features a mother telling her son “every time I said I loved you, I was lying”, and another telling her daughter she doesn’t care about her children’s hearts.

The campaign is intended to encourage people to secure Medicare-funded Heart Health Checks, but many have taken offence at the methodology.

What do you think of the tactic? Was it right to remove the ad?

Absolutely right to remove this advert.  To say it's cruel is an understatement.

i didnt like the start,  with the mother saying she didnt love her son,   but the rest i took the rest for what it was,   a message to get a heart check,    the idea of cruelty never crossed my mind,

The ads were manipulative so really disgusting. They were aimed at making people feel guilty.

Glad they have been removed.

Do people really get free heart checks? I haven’t heard about that. I reckon if I went to my doctor to get my heart checked I would probably be charged $90 (minus the &35 Medicare rebate) as always.

Thin, fit people  who have a plant based diet have heart attacks.

Overweight, unfit people have heart attacks.

Thin unfit people have heart attacks.

Overweight reasonably fit peple have heart attacks.

Young people have heart attacks.

So do middle aged and old people.

So, Heart Foundation, don't you dare lecture me! You know nothing at all and are not looking at the big picture.

Doctors haven't really got a clue. They are now finding that stents can cause more harm than good and heart medication can cause more problems than it's worth. If your number is up, it's up. Fed up with the health profession focus on keeping us alive regardless, as if death is the worst thing ever and so unnatural. Well it's not. We are all going to die. For every patient who says "they found my heart problem in time and I am still alive as a result" there are ten who wish they had never found out as their lives are a misery. Too many useless and dangerous medical procedures performed with little improvement on quality of life.
