Longhair, you can try the following link for the official info. Good luck.

Age Pension: Confirm your identity

From: Australian Government Department of Human Services

https://www.humanservices.gov.au/individuals/services/centrelink/age-pension/claiming/confirm-your-identity

Thanks!

Living arrangements - where are you going to live?  With family - possibly.  Then you'll have an address.

Bank account - have you had or still have an Australian bank account?  Your choice as to where you bank, but you'll need an account for your future payments to be paid to you.

Do you have a drivers licence, or have previously had one?  Renew it.

Enrol to vote.  The AEC will then send you a confirmation of enrolment via e-mail.  Print and submit.

Go to your local MyGov office and get a new Medicare card, and at the same time, register for Centrelink.  You know that there's a waiting period, but ask if there's any assistance for the mean time.

ID is usually your passport, drivers licence, medicare card, bank card (with your name on it), or your electoral enrolment.

I know that St George Bank can issue you with a transaction card on the spot when you open an account until your new card arrives.  It doesn't have your name on it, but you can still access your funds until then.

Thanks SuziJ !

I returned to Australia in 2000 and was asked to gain 100 points for a pension, to do this I was asked for a rental aggreement, recent car rego, new bank account, my australian citizen certificate (I was told the Australian passport was not acceptable!!) a medicare card and a hire purchase agreement, when I applied for a medicare card I was told I needed the same requirement OR a CENTERLINK pension. I already had a car, I kept my 2 bank accounts when I left Australia and I was living in my own home. after contacting my Federal MP I was given the name of the government public servant who interacts with Centerlink, after calling him on the phone to discuss my problem, Centerlink called me and asked me to complete a STAT DEC, WITHIN weeks me pension AND medicare card arrived.

Wow ..thanks 80 Plus.
