How sacred is the space in your wheelie bin?
Is the space in a wheelie bin fair game once it’s been placed on the nature strip for collection? Apparently not if you live in Brimbank Council in Victoria.
In 2015, a total of 79 complaints regarding sneaky bin fillers were lodged with the council, however, a number of these were due to rubbish being put in the wrong bin. On one occasion a resident rifled through a bag of rubbish erroneously placed in a green garden bin, to see if he could identify the culprit.
Now, I will admit that I am a big wheelie bin space thief. Thankfully, my neighbours are always quite sharp at putting their bins out for collection and I have been known to borrow space in both the normal rubbish bin and the recyclable. However, I always make sure that I’m putting the correct rubbish in the right type of bin, and do so safely. I may be a ‘thief’ but I’m a considerate one.
How do you feel about the space in your rubbish bin? Has your bin been contaminated by the wrong type of rubbish?
Seems a small issue but when analysed it is more complicated :)
I would be upset if my bin was filled with the wrong things, or unwrapped house garbage, as I keep a neat bin lol.
Quite o.k. by me though, if anyone asks and shows me what they want to put in our bin, as if I have room, no worries.
