Hey Phyl -

what brand powdered milk do you buy ?

- we use devondale uht skim milk and it is $1.55 per ltr.-

according to their advert on tv we are friends of the family for buying it but it is expensive.

we tried diploma powdered milk and did not like that - maybe we just did it wrong.

lets know what you do and we will give that a go.

Peter we use Aldi or Safeway NOT COLES BRAND as this does not mix well................No Brand is as good as or better than the Name Brands and less than half the price.

We make 8 litres instead of 10 per packet - this is what makes it taste like fresh milk and it HAS to sit in the fridge for some hours (best O'nite) costs around 70c a litre.

We have big covered jugs we use. Trully for at least 20 years we have paid our rates with the savings i.e. $1,000 a year and we love the taste of our milk :) The trick is to mix well and do not use for quite a few hours. I know people who have made it and tried to put it in their coffee straight away or within an hour or so and it is yuk. Oh and it needs to be made stronger than they recommend.

Phyl.

come on Phyl - you know i am a dill - tell me how to get the same result as you.

we shop at Aldi and safeway.

from your message a pack can make 10 but you make 8 ltrs fro the pack - do you just weigh off 1/8th and mix in cold water with a mixer?

i understand the last bit - stand overnight in fridge - last time i made it i think i used it straight away and it was yuk for sure

In a big jar 3 cups cold water (you will learn the ratio of milk to water suits you both Peter)! add a good cup of Aldi Skim Milk Powder (if you want to keep your boyish figure, or full cream milk as long as you (being a bloke keep to around 2,500 calories a day) for your cute wife around 1,800 - 2000 cals. a day to keep her figure.

shake, shake shake then lid on and leave o'nite. Froth all subsides ready for you in the morning. Yes very yuk if not rested o'night or for at least a few hours.

Tomorrow heavenly mllk and $1,000 a year in your pocket to spend.

Make a couple of these jars of milk every night and I know you will praise me for the rest of your lives :)

Good hey?

Best to make one jar of milk every night as this milk does not keep too long, and another before lunch - the second one gets around 4-5 hours in the fridge which is long enough before using. We are very used to making this milk so second nature so if you think "bit of a bother" think what you can use the $1,000 a year you are working for.

thanks very much Phyl -will give it a go

Peter this is Phyl's other half posting .I find that being a mere male that if all else fails "read the directions on the back of the pack". I have found that this is impossable for the female gender to do.

Peter (Phyl's other half)

what a brave man Peter

I will try your recipe Phyl, thank you. I already use powdered milk in my coffee, but I also found it yuk the way I mixed it.

I use only 2 cleaning product" carb soda and vinegar. (I have a waste-water recycling system, I can't put chemicals in it)

The carb soda is excellent to clean the pots, sink, toilet etc. - never scratches anything. With the vinegar I clean the

kitchen bench-top, toilet seats, floors - no germs survive a good dose of simple white vinegar!

I also use it in the washing-machine as softener because the commercial softeners damage my recycling system.

.

Sounds like a saving. We use 2 litres a week and as REV is $2.40 a litre I would save about $177 a year. BUT, how much milk would I have to use to save $1000 a year., I reckon about 11or 12 litres a week. Way beyond me.
