It’s just NEET fair

It’s official – a growing number of young Australians are quite happy to sit on their backsides and not work.

The Investing In Youth Report, compiled by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation Development (OECD), has highlighted that there are currently 580,000 young Australians aged between 15 and 29 who are ‘Not in Employment, Education or Training’, now known as NEETs.

The total number has grown since the 2008 GFC and includes 360,000 who would like to work but can’t and 220,000 who are unwilling to work.

Do you know a NEET? Do you think that young people in general want to work but can’t?
