Miracle food? maybe?

Has anyone ever seen a purple carrot? or remember them from days gone by?
Watched the story on "Purple Carrots" last night. Apparently can cure or at least
help make us better with many ailments.

I have never seen a purple Carrot. We are off today to see if we can buy some at all.
and even moreso seeds as would be able to juice heaps.
Good when something is natural (so are many poisons though of course) but
carrots are a healthy veg. anyway to eat.
Going to be 23 deg. so says the forecaster today - how perfect is that?
..................
Going off track but how sad an elderly lady found after being dead for 2 years.
Not sure what the answer is as many including us (but there are two of us)
are "private people" so sometimes I suppose people do not like to intrude.
More difficult if a person is elderly and living alone.
All the best
Phyl.

Yes Phyl, it is terrible to think someone has died and there is no one who cared.

When we moved to our house there was an elderly gentleman lived next door and I noticed that no one seemed to be there for him so I introduced myself and made a pact with him that every day when he got up he would put the blind up in the kitchen and I would know that he was alright..

He had to use a walker and when I saw him trying to put his garbage bin out I told him I would do that for him each week and bring it in. Also when I cooked a roast I used to take him a plate in. It was funny because when he looked at it he used to say "Oh I couldn't eat all that" but the plate was empty when I went back in later to pick it up and he would say "I really enjoyed that."

When he needed to get money out of the bank, I used to do that for him as well and do any shopping he wanted.

Imagine my surprise when one day a daughter appeared at the fence and gave me money and asked me to go up to the shop to get him some tea. She used to arrive on one bus, bring him a pie for lunch and then leave on the next bus and she only lived a couple of suburbs away.

It doesn't take much time or effort to help someone out and sadly I think people these days are losing the neighbourly touch. They should remember that one day they will be old too.

The man was lucky to have you as his neighbour Sandy.

It does not take much to be kind does it and we none of us know when

we may need a good turn or someone to help.

Have you ever thought some children of

older folks do leave a lot of running around to anyone other than themselves and should the gentleman's

daughter have expected to just say "you go down and buy him something for his tea" Thing is

we help the person, not their family as some families are very selfish or uncaring or

just do not think their parent needs a bit of help maybe.

............

Hope your daughter is going well as I think she may have started her treatment by now.

They are always speaking of one cure or another for cancer and I am sure most take

most with a grain of salt but last night raving about purple carrots.

Have a lovely Wednesday.

Phyl.

Hi Phyl.

Daughter is doing ok but treatment not started yet as she is still waiting for a scan to see what they will do.

Yes we are hopeful that if they can keep her going a cure will be found. But at least the holiday

away with family rejuvenated her and gives her the will to go on.

We had a great holiday except that Christmas was ruined for us as my husband ended up in hospital on christmas eve. I spent christmas running back and forward to the hospital and unpacking the cars and washing etc.

Arrived back home on Christmas eve to find eldest daughter, who had to come back for work on the Wednesday had left the freezer door partly open. So had to throw everything out and clean up the mess from that too.

Ever heard the old saying "It never rains but it pours".

As for the purple carrots, I have never seen them for sale in shops. So good luck with your search.

There is no miracle food. In Australia there is so much choice, and so many choose the wrong thing. Eat a little each day from the great array we have before us. You can have an ice cream, you can have pizza, you can have pork spare ribs - just maybe not all at the same meal. Lately, I've been trying to find the good, old fashioned, beautifully sweet watermelon - the one with the seeds. Nothing available, except the rather tasteless seedless watermelon. Looks like I have to grow my own.

Thanks for the place to order the seeds Sandy. Good price also.
