MOVIE REVIEWS.

I think this site would be good for members to let us know what movies they have seen recently and to give it a STAR  rating.

Yesterday I saw the movie "Ladies In Black". What a great show. It told the story of a young girl who had just completed the Leaving Certificate and wanted to go to Uni. She took a part time job in a department store, Goode's. This is where she meets the "ladies in black". The scene was set in 1959 when the impact of European migration was about to change Australia forever. Scenery was terrific and the old Trams rattling down the streets of Sydney. I was taken back to a old time era which I loved. Fashions were true to the times.

I give it a ***** star rating.

Thanks Hola,  sounds good from what you say, will see if we can fit it in.

Is it a local production?

Yes Celia, it is an Australian film.

Thanks Robi.

i saw “Ladies in Black” last week. Absolutely fantastic, grinned all the way through it, LOVED it! Five stars from me *****

i did fancy this show,   after you recomendations i will go see it,    i think it was taken from a book,    dont know the author,

I'm sure you'll like it Cats - as Robi said "Grinned all the way through it". I did see the stage production at Star City last year. It was a musical and it was just great, it got a standing ovation.

HI HOLA.   i didnt kmow it was done as a stage show,   im getting behind the times,  lol,   do you know who the author of the book ism  ?     i can look on google,   to find it,     think i will go next week,  and see it,

Hi Cats -  The book "The Ladies in Black" was written by Madeleine St. John.  You'll love it Cats - I remember one scene in the Film where they are having a Coffee in Repins Coffee Lounge. It looked exactly the same in real life, this is where I tasted my first Coffee. Enjoy.

I think the book is called “The Women In Black”. They changed it to “Ladies” for the movie.

THANK YOU    HOLA and ROBI,    yes ROBI,   i think i did read where the name was changed,   im sure the library will know,    im looking forward to it,  both the book and film,

I would love to see this movie. Do you think that  my  daughter  aged 24  would enjoy the movie? We saw Christopher Robim  returning as an adult . Good fun movie with a message.

KB - It's what they call a chic-flick movie. I'm sure your daughter would like it. My son, who is now 50 saw

it last week and told me to see it as he knew it was was from my era. Haven't heard a bad word about it.

KB I think your daughter would love it because it’s a delightful film regardless of whether you identify with the era or not.

Also saw Ladies in Black with my movie group.  Enjoyed by all and much to chat about over lunch after movie.

Looking forward to seeing the new STAR IS BORN,    though it would have to be good to beat the BARBRA STRIESAND,      KRIS KRISTOFFER one,       i saw a preview on tv today,   didnt give GA GA   much of a wrap, but said BRADLY COOPER was terriffic,   opens next week,  so will go then,
