Nelson Mandela

There are not too many politicians, past or present, that I really have admiration for.
But one whom I do admire is Nelson Mandela. The 94 year old is in critical condition in hospital.
His condition has worsened in the past 24 hours.

"Mr Zuma said the ant-apartheid icon was "in good hands". He has urged the nation to pray for Mr Mandela and his family.

"The doctors are doing everything possible to get his condition to improve and are ensuring that Madiba is well-looked after and is comfortable," Mr Zuma said, using Mr Mandela's clan name.

Mr Maharaj says the Mandela family is going through a stressful time." ABC

At 94, the world cannot hope to retain this historic icon forever and much as we will miss him, Nelson must soon leave us. Few people can claim to have had the impact on the world that Mandela has and he will be sorely missed.

We are all hoping and praying for a miracle, but life is a finite thing and the end comes for all of us.

I really feel for him, I'm sure he just wants to go, although the medics, are in their own minds, doing all they can for him, I feel this is the time to just let nature take it's course, after all he has been through, he is possibly now, physically and mentally worn out, and just wants it to end.

Yeh,I like him too,and I think he will just be thinking "let me go" enough is enough.

27 years on Robben Island should have killed him but it diden't,pretty tough bloke.

It was 18 years on Robben Island,my mistake, the rest was in two other prisons, still a long time to break rocks all day for 18 years.

I'm sure if Mandela "wants to go" he would have informed his doctors that he didn't want further treatment - unless he is unconscious.

He will be sorely missed, a man of dignity in an undignified world.  Let him go peacefully.

Mandela has had yet another birthday.

However conflictive information is coming about his heath.

After being kept alive on a breathing machine his daughter says he is improving "Mandela is gaining “energy and strength,” said his daughter. “I should think he will be going home anytime soon.”

I love the way that his bloody greedy off-spring are showing their true colours and knifing each other for the spoils.

I do hope that nobody tells him how his relatives are behaving.

Mandela is an exceptional person . His family are like the rest of us , ordinary  . Why expect anything else from them ?

The likes of Mandela, is unlikely to ever be seen again, to have been put through all the pain and suffering and the hideous apartheid, 25 years in jail, then to refuse to avenge it all and to become president, with forgiveness, awesome.

What a shame it is ending with family infighting out in public. Why couldn't they just let it be what he wanted?

The family fighting has nothing to do and should not distract one from the man who is Nelson Mandela.

Is that the same dagwood? you can be sensible .

Remove the whites from Africa and they return to being savages.

Anyone else been there????

why are the family keeping this old boy alive when he is so ill,why don't just let him go
