PlanB this is the correct address for that article

When you copy an  ABC address you only copy to the end of the number for the article.

Thanks Sandi

Makes one wonder as to why it was sent to France in the first place ?

Hi Sandi.

I just checked again and yes that is the one and it is the whole URL,

Australia has very limited nuclear reactors and look at all the problems with just a little bit of radioactive waste.

Can you imagine the problems (including terrorism) that we would have if we had even more nuclear reactors that were used for energy!!

Fukushima Nuclear Disaster: I've just skimmed a site World Nuclear Association who say that everything is okay and people could be sent back into the area to live.... even when it can be shown that those outside the designated area have epidemics of cancers, especially in the kids (probably play outside more).

This is even though the radiation levels and the actual Nuclear Reactor have not been brought under control as yet.

Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster: Was the worlds worst but it has been isolated and the Nuclear Reactor closed down and the whole thing concreted under metres of concrete.

Fukushima is still active and they are still fighting to keep it under control....

Every single day, 300 tons of radioactive water from Fukushima enters the Pacific Ocean. The radioactive material that is constantly building up in the food chain. Nobody knows for sure how many people will eventually develop cancer and other health problems as a result of the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

It has been well over two years since the original disaster, and now they are telling us that it could take up to 40 more years to clean it up. It is a nightmare of unimaginable proportions.

Australia... nah, we have so many options in Australia, no way do we need this sort of stuff...

- deadly waste... where do you put it, especially with transport problems and terrorism

- dangerous Nuclear Reactor sites and terrorist targets, that could result in a Fukushima.. it only took one bit of cost saving to ensure this disaster is still with us and still represents a possible further disaster to Japan and the rest of the Northern Hemisphere, as it is not under control

- Nuclear Reactors take a decade to build and the astronomical cost would mean that our electricity charges would nearly double.... certainly not a cheap option.

- The Nuclear Reactor costs do not stop with the length of time to construct and the construction itself, we would then have extensive costs in relation to security, waste management, transport, storage and counter terrorist requirements.

- Australia, has wind, sun, ocean tides and hopefully China and other countries will continue to  research ways of extending and improving battery storage, etc to make these options, the cheapest and safest in the world (Australia used to lead in these areas, but Howard closed all funding to Universities conducting this sort of research - guess being puppy dogs to the USA and following them to illegally invade Iraq to murder over 600,000 people, cost too much money and we had to cut back somewhere)

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I had a heap of info ready to post and it has gone,  I have to go out so will try and post it later PLEASE research Fukushima for your selves as we are being lied to because they don't want to ruin the economy.

You can start here I will post some more later.

PlanB

That link is excellent... I have left it in the reading section of my bookmarks to ensure I don't lose it.

It was also 'absolutely brilliant' to have my comment confirmed by someone so highly regarded as Dr Helen Caldicott.

Thanks PlanB.

Sorry I was so long in getting back. This HORROR has been almost 5 years now –5 years next April ! I ask you all to PLEASE research all about Fukushima for your selves we are being lied to because of the economy, Fukushima is the very worst nuclear happening ever and it is STILL happening, TEPCO have and are still lying as is the PM Shinzo Abe he has OKed the Olympics for 2020 when the tap water even now in Tokyo is contaminated he is also OKing food to be served in Schools from Fukushima and also food is being imported to many places and in some cases relabelled. Contaminated food was also served in Milan and also being served on air flights.    I am sure it tastes wonderful  as you can not taste / smell/ or see Radioactivity. Also the Sushi that is able to be bought at the bars –once again was great and I ate it often B4, all comes from Japan and the seaweed is very contaminated. They are storing radioactive soil etc in garbage bags all over the place, and thousands of them were washed into the ocean in the last big storm they had. There are very large amounts of radioactive water being put into the Pacific every day and have been for years – radioactive water and waste has reached the USA west coast and also Canada and there are many sea creature deaths as well as Bears etc. Every Tuna they caught was radioactive – I myself am hanging for seafood but have not touched it for almost 3 years now. They are even using melted down metal for various things, including cooking utensils, they are also exporting it.  There are lots of very young children suffering Thyroid nodules and worse and will have to be treated for the rest of their lives. There also have already been deaths of some of the Sailors that were on the US Regan ship that went to help after the disaster and others that are suffering badly. I can not state loudly enough, I beg you to research it – NO it is NOT on main stream media, maybe a little every now and again but NOTHING like what is going on is mentioned. I will put up some sites for all to look at.http://enenews.com/

There are also Podcasts that can be downloaded   to a USB OR you can listen to straight awayHelen Caldicott  also from Lib HaLevy which are very interesting HaLevy does go on a bit in the beginning but she still pulls NO punches

Bump

Wonder if the Fukushima Disaster is the cause of Japane taking up whale hunting again to ensure the upper class can get uncontaminated fish from fresh water ?

Would not put it past them Abby--however I really do not know WHY they want to tell lies and say it is Scientific and they have been doing it for many years --whats wrong with our Governments!

Regardless of the volume involved, it is always the toughest job having to work around nuclear waste. It is a job open to various risks which could be fatal if exposed over a prolonged period of time. We can do our research and voice our opinions out to the respective authorities but there is really just so much that we can do. It is an ongoing industry and over time, little to no improvement will ever be made, sadly.
