I wish him all the very best -- it is not a thing you want to have

It is an "aggressive little bugger". Stephen is lucky he had the best treatment to prolong his life. My husband on the other hand was given very shabby treatment. The "doctor" showed little interest and didn't even request further testing after his PSA was 9. Poor darling was dead within one year.

Sorry to hear that Hola. Very sad for you.

My best wishes to Stephen Fry.

How terrible sad for you Hola. Life can be so cruel at times. sending you a hug :)

Thanks RnR and Cranky for your thoughts.

Oh HOLA..words seem somehow  inadequate...so I am sending you an oversized  hug today xx

Thanks Thea, hugs are so welcome at any time. xx

BEST wishes to STEPHEN FRY,    a very talented,  interesting man,     i watch anything when his name is attached,    as i know it will be interesting,    his is a good actor, also,     has a great wit,

Someone very close to me and younger than Fry had the same reading -- but had it out wonder why Fry did not choose to do that although there are downsides for that as well as my Friend knows VERY well but at that reading that is time to have it removed

I wish Stephen Fry a speedy recovery! Prostrate cancer is curable.

Tell Hola that.

Hope he recovers, terrible thing to happen to anyone.

Yes a terrible disease. I am sure   Steven Fry will recover as he has a positive attitude and lots of support behind, I wish him all the best

A man that has fascinated me since reading the story of his life. He is witty , talented and courageous , and has conquered many a battle and won..

All the best ,You have the support of so many and I hope you win this one too. :)

A wonderful, warm, witty and very intelligent entertainer.  I hope he is now recovering, fully, post-operation. His story of discovery of his prostate cancer and operation should be read by every man, so much is made of women's breast cancer that men with 1 in 8 getting prostate cancer need an eloquent voice like Stephen Fry  who has the courage to discuss openly how he has dealt with it, to ensure men are made very aware and treated adequately on discovery. A very remarkable man to be so open.

I agree. A female friend of mine recently suggested to a women's group that some money they had raised should be given to research into prostate cancer. She was shocked by how aggressive they were in any case it was a definite NO.

Best of luck Stephen. It's a shame there's not more money spent on a cure or even support. You obviously had the best of care. I suspect the experience for the average guy wouldn't be as good. But I am glad you're feeling better.

Stephen Fry on video re MRI: “Something rather mischievous showed up.”

Poor bugger, my late husband had “something mischievous” show up on a scan after suddenly his legs wouldn’t stop when out walking and he had to head into a wall to stop moving … bizarre symptom of … lymphoma of the brain. Dead within 18 months.

Hope SF does much better and agree that so much publicity revolves around cancer in females when males have equally dour outcomes.

I have noticed that interest in prostate cancer is on the increase lately.  It still has a way to go before it has a similar public profile to breast cancer, but I think it will get there.  I have received several mail outs from the prostate cancer research foundation in recent months, and there is increasing promotion  in the various media.

I am cheered by your response too often when men's health issues are discussed the reaction is negative even aggressive. Why I don't know I think men should be entitled to some health dollars, at the moment very little is spent on them.

Regarded as Britain’s “favourite teddy bear”.. Stephen Fry is such a joy..

I send this talented and eloquent man so many positive thoughts …

hope he receives your positive thoughts and those thoughts go to work on his cancer right away

I'm sending you some thoughts  too....

imagine if Thea could really send her thoughts to others - my god - suicide rates would be through the roof

Rapheal do you really think your comment is suitable for this very serious thread. We all send genuine and heartfelt wishes and positive thoughts to Stephen and anyone else who is suffering such a condition.

If you look closely above you. I'm sure you will could not fail to notice the comments are all of the same nature.

I wish you would be more thoughtful when you charge in the door with a personal barb which is totally unnecessary and uncalled for.

There is a place for some of your spitful comments...In foxy's bin.

It's beyond my ken why they haven't thrown the little squirt to the wolves yet.

Great news, Stephen Fry returned to work a few days ago. He was in LA for an event which he hosted called Letters Live.

Agree fully with your comment above Cranky. I think Stephen would too, one of his famous quotes is "Stop feeling sorry for yourself and you'll be happy".

That's wonderful news my sweet!

This should be heartening to all men out there, to get themselves checked, because this disease is curable if caught in time.
